    Dirtbags 17u

The Dirtbags won two games today to win their second round of pool play with a 3-0 record. This moves the DB's on to the round of 16. Now it will be single elimination starting tomorrow.

Im a little beat down from two weeks in Ga and the games have kind of ran together to be honest with you. Today the Dirtbags played Norcal from California and I think the final was 11-3 in 5 innings. We just defeated the Indiana Bulls 3-1 in a thriller to move on to the final 16.

I will post details on the games soon. We do not know when we are playing tomorrow yet or who at this time.

    Hey Coach May!

I've been wondering what happened to you, seeing as how you haven't posted in a while. Thought maybe you had gotten swept down the Chatahochee(sp?) during a T storm or maybe stuck on the "485" like that latino pitcher for the Braves a few years back...
Good luck to the guys the rest of the way. Wish we were there with everyone. Be sure to keep Kevin A. from trying to catch anymore foul balls with his teeth!

A couple of Dirtbag teams are on their way to Atlanta ('09 and '010). They went to Lander College in Greenwood, SC yesterday to play a game against each other however they only took batting practice. Long way to go for BP. Now they're on to Atlanta for the wood bat. Hopefully we can get some reports once the games begin.

    I think the '010's play at 9, 2, and 9 starting tomorrow.

The DB's lost in the round of 8 yesterday to the Richmond Braves 2-1. It was an outstanding game. Both teams had four hits and there were some great defensive plays made by both teams. Mac Williamson started for the DB's Wake Forest Rolesville. Mac was outstanding going four strong innings giving up one run. Mac was sitting in the low 90's in his first outing of the week and touched 94. I did not sit by the guns for this one but he was bringing it. Tim Melville from Missouri one of the top ranked 08's in the nation got the start for the Braves and went four innings as well giving up one run. Melville has been in the low 90's consistently and touched 95 in Cinn Ohio at the PG national. He did not look to be throwing quite as hard as Mac but he was very good. The DB's put the ball in play but Richmond made several nice plays. Tyler Hibbs came in relief for the DB's and did a great job. Richmond scored run in the bottom of the 6th on a throwing error by Hibbs (tough play) and the DB's could not get one across in the 7th. The Braves lost in the championship game today to the East Cobb Braves.

The DB's played great all week long. It was a great ride once again for them. Sometimes you hit it hard and right at them and it just isnt your day. We played well enough to win but give credit to the Braves for making the plays and finding a way to get it done. We will give it another shot in Jupiter.
