    Maybe ... maybe not..

East has two losses. They lost 4-1 to Hopewell, but Hopewell ain't exactly dogmeat. With Andrew Cruse on the bump, they can beat a lot of good teams. The other loss was:

    1. Non-conf sandwiched between 2 conf games - thus meaningless.

    2. Affected by 7 errors which isn't exactly regular (I hope).

One early season loss by any team is nothing. Two and you take a second look. AL Brown, like a lot of young teams can be WAY UP and WAY DOWN. They were obviously as high as kites for this game. There are a lot of very good teams with 2 early losses. DH Conley in the East was ranked in the top 10 in the state in some polls ... they lost their first two games.

They need to play well (even if they don't win) against Myers Park on friday.

Sounds like some gamesmanship going on -- someone trying to fire up those East Meck guys for the Myers Park game.

No question East has lots of talent and they are for real. A lot of stuff is going on lots of places in these early games that make you wonder -- we'll see as we get deeper into conference play. I think East can play with anybody when Buchanon is pitching.

Wanksta, I hope you know by now that I think you guys are championship calibre.

No, MP obviously will not take you lightly, nor will any other team in the conference. It should be a great game tomorrow....and i will be there in my TBR reporter's hat and notebook...ready to do interviews live during the game.

Uh...Wanksta..since you are a loyal member of this board...do you think you can get Buchanan to do an interview between innings :)

    East Meck???

Listen guys, East Meck is a fine team, but they just lost a ballgame, or 2. Please don't make excuses, because this was a nonconference game for Kannapolis too. It happens. East Meck will be just fine...

    not so fast...

i dunno wuf...it was a long time ago, but there was a team in charlotte in the late 80's that struggled early in the non-conference season. they experimented with lineups and pitchers before they found the right combination. they lost some games to some pretty inferior teams...even got blown out a couple of times early. but once the conference season started, it was a different story. took a 17-10 overall record into the state finals against the powerful 26-0 Greenville Rose team. wanna guess who won?

i am not saying that east has the talent to win it all...i have never seen them play. but my point is that it is too early to tell just how successful a team will be come conference tournament time...and on into the playoffs.

    East Meck???

Law1ng2B, just for the record, I'm not saying that East Meck is going to win any championships, in fact I'm just trying to be nice. My point is that Kannapolis beat East Meck, plain and simple. Anyone at this game witnessed Kannapolis hitting the ball well. Neither team threw their best pitchers, and the Kannapolis boys hit the ball better than the East boys. End of story.

Feel free to question how good East Meck is, but I think NCBBALLFAN said it best when he described Kannapolis as "a young team that can be either WAY UP or WAY DOWN". The way Kannapolis hit the ball against East last Wednesday was no fluke, it may have surprised the East players/fans, but it was no surprise in Ktown. Kannapolis has simply struggled with consistency because of their youth.
