    Pitching

Pitching is still where its at as far having a dominant team. If you are lucky enough to have a great pitcher, catcher combo with nothing more than a short game on offense you can win a lot of games. Thats nothing new. The pitching in the west seems to be better than the east. When you have the great pitching that the west has had a run or two wins. There doesn't seem to be many young girls taking the time to become great pitchers because it is a lot of work and its a lot of pressure, not that any other part of the game is any different. I think pitching as a whole is down in all parts of the country. I do know that coaching in the big areas is not what it should be as far as knowing the game. It is usually the same teams in both the east and west that go to Walnut Creek for the most part because they have good coaching and a high level of commitmant from the players. The good high school teams are good because they have a lot of players in TB and the coach is involved to, not to take away from the good high school coaches but its more bad ones than good because as a coach they don't have the level of commitmant they should. We have got to do a better job in getting young girls invoved in softball and you have to make it fun at that level. I have seen coaches in 10u yelling at their players because they missed a groundball to the point where the girl is crying. Thats a good way to send them back to soccer. As a coach you have to know when to be hard but you have to teach them to learn from the mistake and get better and you have to build them back up after you tear them down. THIS IS A MENTAL GAME!!!

North Davidson is certainly not the only game in town. ND, Ledford, and Central Davidson are all in the same county. West Forsyth and Glenn are both within a stone's throw in Forsyth county. These are all top ten programs in their respective classifications and their school districts share common borders! Something is obviously going on that works. A big part of the secret is competent coaches and TB and HS programs that know how to work together.

    Good point

Good points and there are not a 100 travel teams in those respective counties because of that cooperation, loyality and dedication! Some great programs mentioned.
