    Wilmington Laney: Undefeated!

    Hoggard is 7-2. Their only losses are to 3A power West Brunswick 12-8, and undefeated Wilmington Laney 7-1. Laney was 11-0 heading into their contest against Mt. Tabor last week.     I know that Laney and Ashley usually have pretty strong teams, just didn't know anthing about Hoggard. My son played ball with Jeff Ferrell back in Little League days in Matthews, NC. I know how good he is. Sounds like we might be the worst team in the entire tournament. Well, no work this week and three days of baseball; however things turn out, you won't hear any complaints from me.

    East Meck v. Harding (Cardinal Classic)

    East Mecklenburg beat the Rams 10-0 in 5 innings, with Soph. Jonathan Crews going the distance and pitching strongly for the Eagles. It was windy and cold out at Berry High School, but the Eagles bats were hot. Juniors Matt Kraft and Adam Brady got the opportunity to start for the Eagles and led East Mecklenburg batters going 3 for 3 and 2 for 3 respectively. David Daniels also hit his first HR of the year.

    Devin Mitchell (also a sophomore) pitched well for the Rams. The Rams played pretty clean defense behind him, but the Eagles had too much firepower yesterday. Like the Eagles, the Rams are a young team that should give the Queen City League trouble in the future.

    East Meck v Phillip O Berry

    The Eagles beat a game but overmatched Berry team in the Cardinal Classic. The final score was 20-2 and Robinette took the victory for the Eagles. Leighton Daniels hit a HR for East Mecklenburg. The kids from Berry never quit and kept playing hard till the end.
