Great effort from my Cardinal gals!

My girls lost in the second round Friday night and battled back all day on Saturday, pulling off 5 wins in a row in the losers bracket. We were on the field all day, 7AM till 10PM. (except for a 1 game break and a rain delay)
We played again at 8AM Sunday against the N. Georgia Blast. Tied 6-6 at the end of regulation, we go to ITB. They score 1. We have our tying run on third, pull off a squeeze and the umpire steps into the 3rd base line as my runner gets almost to the plate, to watch the ball roll down the 1st baseline, taking out my runner, nearly breaking her ankle, and keeping her from scoring. What a heartbreaking way to lose a ball game. On an umpire out of postion. Next time the may as well pull a truck over home plate! My girls played their hearts out only to have it taken away. We finished 7-2-1 for the weekend, tied for 6th.
(As you can probably tell, I ain't real happy with umpires right now. Sorry for the rant)
I can say though, that I am very proud of the way my girls played and carried themselves. Probably one of the the best group of kids and parents I've ever had.

    Update & Photos

The Carolina Cardinals Red finished 3-3 in the ASA 14U Eastern Nationals in Roanoke. The final results have not yet been posted, but I believe we finished somewhere between 12th & 15th. Two of our losses were to the teams I think finished 1st & 2nd and we kept both of those games close until the later innings.

I could not be more proud of our team and parents. We have such a young team with 2 players who must move to 16U, 5 first year 14's and 6 that should still be playing 12U!

This team also competed well in the 16U tournaments we played this year and I feel those tournaments help prepare our girls for the the Eastern Nationals.

Except for a couple calls (an incorrect interpretation of the look back rule and the base ump calling a hit batter when the ball went BEHIND the batter) the umpires we had we very good. (sorry Rick!) As I mentioned earlier, the complex was the best I have ever been to. Photos don't do it justice.

Sounded like a tough loss Ric. The Cardinal girls played great ball this weekend, battling back in the losers bracket. Triangle Lightning girls played good ball this weekend just got beat by some very good teams. The game against Sudden Impact took alot out of them.
Would like to say personally that the Lightning group is a fabulous organization and thank you for taking in my kiddo and treating her like one of their own.
Also on behalf of the Triangle Lightning we would like to recognize our departing college bound group:
Gwen Turner going to Lafayette College
Becca Pink going to Greensboro College
Emily Atkinson going to Tallahassee CC
Beth Anne Kleecamp going to UncW (hopefully to walk on)
and of course Ashley Myers to Elon University
    Thank you all girls
