We are very proud of her!

The student-athlete scholarship is based on academics, athletics and community and school involvement. One student is chosen each month during the school year and the winner receives $1,000 to use toward school expenses.

The criteria that Hood Hargett used are that Emily has a 5.125 GPA and is in the National Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Tri-M National Music Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta (math honor society), Marching & Concert Band, JROTC, CYC, Church Youth Group and Church Choir. She has volunteered with Samaritan's Purse, Children's Attention Home and Crisis Assistance Ministries. She is listed in Who's Who Among American High School Students, was a Wendy's High School Heisman Nominee, was chosen in 2005 for the NC 4A All State team, has received the JROTC Distinguished Athlete Award and the JROTC Scholastic Award.

She will be attending and playing softball for Coach Hawkins at USC Upstate in the fall. She is also receiving the Chancellor's Scholarship from USC Upstate.

Here is a brief description I found about the Hood Hargett Breakfast Club:

"The Hood Hargett Breakfast Club AM Breakfast events are held once a month at a venue that provides enough space for 200-300 people. Each event features a high profile sports or business personality as the guest speaker. Hood Hargett Breakfast Club events are not open to the general public; the only people attending our events are members and their best customers, best prospects and best vendors."

The softball girls just keep rock'n on with awards....in Union Cty the high schools require community service or at least Porter Ridge requires so many hours each school year toward completion of graduation, but church service hours are not allowed toward these hours....GO FIGURE !!!!
