Chipola Adds Two More All-Americans [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] News - Softball Articles [IMG]In the 1860s, Henry Chadwick coined the word battery mates to collectively refer to the pitcher and catcher of a team in reference to the firepower of a team’s pitching staff. This year’s combination of pitching and catching garnered the approval of country as both Emma Stevenson and Kellie Todd were selected as NJCAA All-Americans.

Lady Indian pitcher, Emma Stevenson, freshman, was named to the NJCAA First Team All-American squad. Stevenson collected 21 wins and only 3 defeats, while picking up 4 saves on the season. Her ERA for the year was a jaw-dropping 1.067.

Behind the plate, Kellie Todd’s .435 batting average and defensive prowess, 300 putouts, 22 runners caught stealing, helped land her on the NJCAA Second Team All-American list.

“It’s a great honor for our program for Emma and Kellie to be recognized as NJCAA All-Americans,” said Coach Belinda Hendrix. “We were fortunate to have extremely talented individuals in the circle and behind the plate for us this year.”

Both Stevenson and Todd helped the Chipola Lady Indians to an astounding 49 wins, capturing the Panhandle Conference Championship, the NJCAA Region VIII Championship, and a fifth place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament.
