    1/2 empty nest

Took #1 to college 2 weeks ago, 2 1/2 hour trip each way. The back pain and heat stroke from move in day were bad enough, but the whiplash from watching the coeds was tough(but worth it). Son has adjusted well, mom and I are getting there. #2 son (diamond rat) has quickly figured out that he has no-one to share the blame of a messy house or incomplete chore list and has adjusted his lifestyle as well. #1 has always been quiet type, but we do wish he would call, or even text a little. The only call was a question about the drier settings, at least it was a call. Now that fall workouts have started and madatory study halls, we may not hear from him till Christmas. We all miss him, but are proud and excited. I do agree grocery and utilities drop a great deal, but not enough to offset tuition.

Yeah I'll miss him dearly. That is also true though, that I have no one to blame lol. I was unable to go with but will never forget being told, by my dad this story: Dad~"Wow, look at all these women man, look over there, and over there, what about over here" Son~"Wow, pace yourself dad, I'll be here for 4 years". Doesn't get much richer then that haha.

    Hey Back Seat,

Chatted with Mrs. Back Seat the other night and it sounds like we are equally miserable without our boys in the house. Somehow looking back, all the dirty socks, dirty dishes, late nights, messy bathrooms and girlfriend drama doesn't seem so bad now. After comparing notes, sounds like both our boys are working very hard and loving it. Classes at WF are as challenging as promised - seems the baseball workouts are a welcomed break from the academic load!

First time in 21 years with no boys in our house. Very, very strange.
