When determining ERA in tournament ball-what is considered normal regulation game innings? In school ball it is 7. In tournament ball we normally get 4-5 innings in, rarely 6. So how would I determine ERA in tournament ball? Would it still be calculated like school ball
(ER x 7 divided by innings pitched)???

    Answer

Just divide her innings actually pitched by the earned runs allowed. That is really all U need, then U can convert to 7 inning games if wanted.

    another era question

With two outs, pitcher gets a routine ground ball to the infield to end the inning. The second baseman makes an error, and the batter reaches first on a charged error. The next batter hits a home run. Is either of these two runs an earned run.

No, neither run is earned. They can go on to score 10 more, but they would all be unearned. The error should have been the third out and the inning would be complete, therefore all runs scored after the error are unearned.

Doesn't seem right, not sure about above situation!

I have always been told that it is determined how the batter got on base if the run they scored is earned or not. How can you take away a homerun from being a earned run? That just doesn't seem right. I can understand that the batter who reached first on an error not being an earned run but the homer should, I believe. I will look it up in the baseball info on MLB.

    Correction!

Just read that with 2 outs, they both would be unearned runs. If less than 2 outs, then 1 earned run. Good question!

    Correct

This is correct, since 7 innings is considered regulation.
