I think NCSU will be a team to watch in 2004. They played well and have a lot of talent. Their pitching looks good. They have Shania and a pitccher from New Mexico that will be really good once they get use to the way things are done at the college level.
I watched the pitching coach work with Shaina, and she is making some changes that I think will make her better that she already is. They have a strong defense and offense. Their 2nd baseman is from Dot Richardson's team (Dot's Diamonds)also they have 2 players from California that looked good. Most of the players on the team (14) are from NC, and you know our state produce some great athletes.

Elon played some good ball over the weekend also. Look for them to do well in their conf. They have 8 seniors on their team for 2004. I think they will be at the top of their division.

The Lady Blues went 5-0 in Burlington scoring 28 runs and giving up 1. Meredith O'Connor and Ashton Ward pitched some awesome games and Emily Forbes, Taylor Queen, Melissa Stuhr and Ashley Stewart, our seniors had great tournaments. Our underclassman were stellar on defense led by Megan Burleson and Tori Seifert, Megan was like a vacumn cleaner! Brittany Cantrell stole several bases and Brittany Blanton, Stacia Peterson played extremly well and had key hits at various times. Moni did a great job getting the girls ready to play and keeping them focused. NC State did look pretty well but other than Elon and maybe Louisburg, I was not impressed with the D-111 and Jr colleges attending. The ladies played hard but did not have the talent of State and Elon. As Comet Fan said the second baseman for State was a player and I also liked their catcher, BJ, I believe was her name and the third baseman for State hit fairly well. All and all it was great to watch the colleges play and to see where our NC travel teams talent may fit in the local colleges.

Outstanding weekend for Lady Blues and great exposure for them....................:D

Thanks for the report and hope to see State and others play more this spring!

Emily and Taylor are two of the BEst Players in this state and hope they stayed focus during the offseason! Both are D1 material but play immediately at D2; we wish them the best with their choices!

    Do keep us posted!;)
