I'm just wondering what the feeder programs are like in other parts of the state for high school teams. I know here in Wake County, there is no middle school baseball except for a few club teams. Also, some of the area Parks and Rec. little league's are terrible.

In a place like Richmond County, do they have a little league that sends players strictly to the same high school which creates a larger talent pool?

Just wondering. Wake County plays some good baseball considering the no-middle school baseball issue.

I know some high schools suffer from their recreation little leagues because they are poorly coached and the talent is not as strong as neighboring competitive leagues.

What do ya'll think? Does it make much difference?

Richmond and Scotland have a fantastic feeder setup. They have three to five middle schools that all feed into one high school. A coach can take his pick from 3 to 5 starters at every position.

Winston-Salem/Forsyth County does not have a middle school program for Baseball or Football.

West Stokes has Chestnut Grove Middle School feeding it. They've won their conference 3 years in a row.

Waaaay back when I was in Middle School (actually Jr. High then), we had all kinds of sports - baseball, football, basketball, softball, tennis, wrestling. I was able to play with the same guys from 7th grade on. That's six years playing with the same guys. We also had some really good coaches that taught us how to play together etc. etc.

Nowadays, Middle Schools here in DC only have football and basketball for boys and basketball and softball for girls. I hate it. There is a "club" baseball team for middle school age kids. It is better than nothing for sure, but it is usually parent coached and really has no connection to the high school program.
