Manteo High School needs to be added to this list of great baseball fields. I have not been there in several years, but I am sure it is still in great shape just like all the other fields already listed. I remember several years back when Manteo hosted a college conference tournament.

A lot of money was spent on the old Rocky Mount downtown field and the place is really maintained very nice by the coach. Great drainage so hard to get a rainout there.

It's hard to get a rainout here...because it never rains (of course today it rains)

A lot has been done at Ragsdale. We put in a new backstop and netting. Rebuilding the bullpen. Just completed two covered batting cages that are being lighted for night use. Installed new warning track and replacing the bleacher area. And the playing surface is in great shape.

Sportsmom is correct in that SW Guilford also has a great field.

Until it closed Enfield Academy, a tiny private school in Whitakers (15 miles north of Rocky Mount) had one of the top fields and playing surfaces around. It was built and developed by current ECU coach Billy Godwin when he was headmaster and baseball coach at the school. After Godwin moved on it was maintained by several volunteers until the school closed in 2003.

It was unique in that the gym stood in right center field abbout 350 feet away where you had to hit the roof for a home run and a ball off the side of the gym could carom in any direction. Enfierld Academy played Perquimans Co HS there in 1997, where Paul Hunter, son of the legedary Catfish Hunter hit a homerun that cleared the gym and landed in the street beyond. Catfish was in attendance that day and was best remembered for chasing down foul balls in the cotton field outside the field.

    Lee Senior HS

Lee Senior HS has a great field...

Great grass, lots of foul territory, good scoreboard, elevated seating, a really nice place to watch a game....

    in the cpc........

west forsyth- great playing surface, a lot of improvements being done around the field as well, halo around homeplate, new brick wall and net backstop, hew seating and picnic area, new cages (3 total now), new concession stand with bathrooms, still has a short porch in left.

north davidson- great playig surface, new brick and net backstop, great stands (especially the concession,,, ha ha), great facilities all around.

davie- plays at rich park, nothing more needs to be said there,

mt tabor- field improving yearly, good playing surface

    reynolds- continues to improve

ex cpc member east rowan- plays at their legion field, great playing surface and stands.

the cpc may have some of the best overall fields around, if you think about the entire conference.

i know their are great fields in charlotte and other areas as well, but not a dog among the fields in the cpc.....let's see how north forsyth field is before we can say this with complete conviction
