    Fred T Foard 2 Tuscola 0

Fred T Foard rode the strong right arm of Trent Rothlin and the clutch hitting of Aaron King and Brian Dice to claim a first round win. Rothlin went the distance only allowing 3 hits while striking out 10. Meanwhile Aaron King hit a solo home run in the 2nd to put the Tigers up 1-0. The score remained the same until Brian Dice singled in Mitch Granger in the bottom of the 6th for an insurance run.

Andrew Wyant added two hits for Foard and Tyler Buchanan had the other Tiger hit. Foard (25-3) awaits the winner of North Gaston and Charlotte Catholic.

Nick Jones pitched a whale of a game for Tuscola allowing 5 hits and one earned run.

    Grimsley 1

Grimsley had 2 huge baserunning mistakes that cost them the ballgame. Great game tonight in Mocksville. Davie is very tough.

She said Clayton's ace pitched against Cary's (Bryan Booth).

    South Caldwell - 15
    West Meck - 3

    LP - Sidebottom

Leading hitters for West Meck - Reeves (2-3, 2b), Mullis (1-3, HR RBI), King (1-3), Sidebottom (1-3, RBI), Bowen (1-3)

All I can say is that West Meck played great. It's sad that the scoreboard read that because South Caldwell scored 8 runs on 2 Homeruns (Yes, 2 grand slams). After one of the Grand Slams Bumgardner hit a Solo shot. Those boys can hit. I think West had 2 errors all game, S.Caldwell was just hitting great. The score was 9-0 after the 3rd inning (8 runs in the 3rd) and West faught back with a leadoff Homer over the right center wall by Stephen Mullis. The next inning Brandon Reeves hit a 1 out double to right center and Ian Sidebottom hit Reeves in. Another run was scored by a pinch runner for B.J. Bowen trhat scored from 3rd on a past ball. The score was then 9-3 and West looked like they were putting up a little fight. With 2 outs ion the 6th another grand slam was hit to make it 14-3, and that was all she wrote.

West played good considering what they were up against, and if they had a true ACE on that team they could have won maybe 3-2. They didn't give up, and it was actually an ejnoyable game to watch. I'm going to keep my mouth shut with regards to the class of the players or coach at South Caldwell. They were nothing but rude towards the West Meck players, screaming hateful things towards warming up pitchers. There's more, but it's just not worth it.

conley beats aycock in a thriller 3-1 in 9 innings. White threw a helluva game going all 9. hit a bomb in the top of the 9th too that looked like it would never land. when alex white is on.....UH OH!!!
