Saw him pitch. Justin Poovey is the real deal. Hope he decides to play Legion ball. He will have lots of fans. Scouts will come to see Madison Bumgarner and leave with :229031_haPoovey on thier mind

Another final: West Rowan- 2 over Asheboro- 0

Wow, saw a few surprises with some of these results. Congrats to East Rowan with their big win over Hopewell, and also congrats to Salisbury on their win over a very strong West Stanly team.

Btw to NPCFanatic,,,, your boy did well last night, Ragsdale just showed why a lot of folks consider them the top 3A team in the state. Congrats to the NW seniors on a super high school career and I agree with you, that it should be a fun summer on the legion circuit.

Matt Andress started the game and Matt Layman came in for relief...hats off to Ashbrook who came out swinging the bats putting the ball in play.

Just wasn't South Mecks night with the ball not bouncing their way, kick in a few mistakes and you get a 8-4 ball game.

Congrats to the South Meck players and coaches for a solid year....

    East Rowan beats Hopewell

    Hopewell 1 Run, 4 hits, 3 errors, 4 LOB
    E. Rowan 14 Runs, 13 hits, 0 errors, 6 LOB

Congratulations to a very good E. Rowan team.:229031_ha

The got three runs in the 2nd after 2 batters were walked and Cy Young hit a home run down the left field line to clear the bases.

After the top of the fourth the score was 4-1 and then the wheels came off for Hopewell and the Mustangs produced 10 runs off 8 hits.

Cy Young "pitched" a very good game getting, but did the most damage in the 2nd inning with his bat.

Good Luck to the Mustangs as they advance!!!:229031_ha :229031_ha :229031_ha

North Forsyth 5 Independence 4 in 9 innings

This was a hard fought game that was something to see. It would have been more enjoyable if the score was the other way! North took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third. Indy came back with 4 in the fifth. North tied it in the bottom of the fifth and then won it in the bottom of the ninth. Bray went all the way for Indy giving up nine hits. Johnson started and was relieved by Ackley who picked up the win. Indy had eight hits and two errors. I think this Indy team did much better than most people would have thought. They showed all year that they could play with anyone even though most people picked them fourth or fifth in the conference. My hats off to a great group of kids. Good luck to North.

haha, and SC said that char. christian had big mouths back when they played up at shelby. but i agree, this is playoff time, mercy and even class was left back in the regular season, these guys have one goal, and thats winnin' a ring, i think saying the right things and runnin' up the score is the last things on the players minds

There may be profanity on other parts of this board, frankly, it exists. However, since many of the posters on this part are parents, teenagers, coaches, and scouts, we appreciate the fact that this is a profanity-free area.

I don't mean this as a degrading insult, but I am sure an educated person can find better ways to articulate his/her views than to use profanity. Frankly, it shows ignorance of better vocabulary or stupidity in the fact that one refuses to use those skills.

I for one am here to have good clean discussions on high school baseball, and I dont need to see profanity laden posts when appropriate vocabulary can be used.

    North Rowan over Hibriten

North Rowan won 6-5. Keegan Linza got the win. North was not sharp commiting 6 errors. Andy Smith played good defense and had a 3 run homer in the 6th to tie the game. North won in the 7th on a lead off walk, wild pitch and a single by Grey Walker. Jacob Dobbins had 2 hits for NR. Congrats to all the Rowan Co. schools East, West and Salisbury for their wins in the first round. Any word on the Bessemer City-North Stanley game.
