East Forsyth @ Parkland, Thurs. Mar. 3

    East Forsyth: 15
    Parkland: 1

It was an embarassing night for the Mustangs as they were down 10-0 after 2. Nothing seem to go right. Jared Dodds (Jr.) got the start on the mound for Parkland and Jodi Calloway (Jr.) started for the Eagles. Jodi Calloway not only led the Mustangs on the hill, but also at the plate going 3-5 with 4 RBI's and 1 HR. The Mustangs only got 3 hits and scored their lone run on an RBI single by Jon Helsabeck (Jr.) in the 5th. Jacob Ray (Sr.) got a double in the second for the Mustangs but was left standing on second after two quick strikeouts by Calloway.

Eagles scored 15 runs on 11 hits and they had 1 error.
Mustangs scored 1 run on 3 hits and they had 3 errors.

Parkland will play @ Glenn on Monday. It is the conference opener for both teams.

Congrats to Coach Evans Roxboro Person team for bouncing back and taking care of Northern Vance 12-2. Roxboro Person has two outstanding kids both Juniors on their squad. Robbie Byrd RH Pitcher SS OF 3B and he could play 1b. He is an outstanding player with great size and speed. I like the way this kid plays the game hard nosed and ready to play everytime I have seen him. Jerrod Moore RHP 2b. This guy has good velocity on the hill and great command of three pitches. He is also a very good hitter. These are two guys that are going to be heard from. Coach Evans does an outstanding job at Roxboro and look for them to compete for the top spot in the PAC-6 4A this year. We feel very fortunate to come away with a win at your place the other night. It was a very competitive game untill we caught some lucky breaks. Good luck to you guys and we will see you soon.

Hey - I watched the Presnell kid from the box and he has a fearless swing; what a sweet stroke!!! He is a game changer. Watauga will be really good, I mean really good when they mature a little. But mark my words - they will make a few statements this year that their "future" is also "now" :twocents:

East Rutherford 11 North Gaston 9 (12 Innings)

Sr. Chris Kimbrells top of the 12th inning double scored Blake Bostic and Trey Owens for what proved to be the winning runs as East won a marathon at North Gaston. This one was like playing a Sat. double-header. North Gaston has a fine hitting team and some good young arms. Defensive lapses are what probably cost them this game. Remember the name Jake Buchanon. (NG). The 15 yr old pitched 4 effective innings in relief, hitting 81mph with good control of all his pitchings. He is planning to play in the On Deck 16U program this summer.

    Leading Hitters:
    North Gaston : # 14 Williams - 2-6, 2B, 2 runs
    # 9 Downs - 3-6, HR
    East Ruth. : Kyle Campfield - 6-7, 6 singles ( 6-6 at one point)
    Brett Walker - 3-7, 2 runs, 2 RBI
    Winning Pitcher : Blake Bostic

    ER : 3-1
    NG: 2-1

2A Teams better watch out for S. Granville!!

Thanks Coach!! You guys playing 2A ball better watch out for South Granville!! They do the little things well. They have several players to watch. Todd Helmer SR/SS can play OF also!!(who I had the privilege to coach in the State Games as a soph), is a scrappy player for them in the leadoff spot, he is a player. I did not realize Chris Luck (SO/RHP) was a Soph. He has potenitial to be really good. Jeff May (FR/C) will be a very good player also, he can hit it too and is very solid behind the plate. Rashaad Hunt (1B) is a solid player. Hey, they are solid all the way around. They will be a team to reckon with!!It wouldn't surprise me if they got into the top 10 soon!!

I really appreciate the great feedback we are getting on all the posts. Especially like the responses from the coaches about each other's teams. I've already learned more about who to watch for this year then all of last year. Keep it coming!!!!!
