Adam Warren is a great kid. I enjoyed meeting him and his dad at Elon back in January. Quality people, all the way.

Adam, it's good to hear you got off to such a great start !!!! Keep it up.

    More Wednesday Action:

    North Meck 4, Butler 3

Pierce started and went 5 strong innings for North, surrendering a solo shot to Kevin Glass. Butler scraped together a rally in the 6th and 7th to tie it at 3-3. North pushed over a run by Cavasinni in the bottom of the 7th. 3 stolen bases by Cavasinni. Alan Parks picks up the win in relief.

My friends @ West told me Butler had a pretty nice looking pitching staff along with a nice looking infield....did they live up to what I heard? Apparently they did if they held a team like North to 4 runs. Good game to each team.

Myers Park/Independence went final after 10 as a 4-4 tie.

I'm sure the players from both teams are hunting for a jet engine to stand behind right about now to warm up.

    More Wednesday action:

    Providence 11
    Vance 1

2B Austin Stephenson (sp?) had 2 hits and 3 rbi's. 3B Keith Mauney had 3 runs scored. Winning pitcher was Mitch Guess...(sorry didn't pick up his name). Held Vance hitless for the first 4 innings, with 6 K's. Providence also had two other impressive pitchers.

Vance struggled at the plate, with their only hit and run coming from C Dylan Martin. Alex Hill started the game on the mound, lasted 3 innings, gave up 5 runs on just 3 hits but 4 walks and a hit batter. Vance defense struggled in the cold. But you've got to love their effort, and their coach is a good baseball guy with lots of enthusiasm. They will get better. Vance is at Myers Park tomorrow, hosts Butler on Friday.

Stephenson, good spelling. It's good to see him doing well, he was one of my good buddies. Vance really doesn't have much in their team this year, they lost a lot of talent last year, good game for both teams though.

    New Bern 7
    West Craven 2

Not a pretty game, but New Bern played well enough to win in the cold. Joey Young led the Bears with 2 hits and Matt Sanders had a double and 3 RBIs.

Brian Fuller pitched very well for NB going 5.1, giving up 3 hits, striking out 4, and walking 3. David Towarnicky finished the game on the mound, holding WC hitless. Sophomore Billy Dudding pitch well for WC.
