OK, I think it's time for another post from Davidson. We started fall practice on Tuesday. It will last ujntil the end of October. We opened it up with a Red-Black scrimmage. All of the pitchers threw, none to more than 5 batters. I played the first 8 innings at 3rd base for the Red team and pitched the last inning. I actually hit the first batter, but got the next three out consecutively, two of which were strikeouts. As a team, we looked very solid. Defense was impressive, I can't really remember any errors being made. The game had a very quick pace, we finished 9 innings in 2 hours. Pitchers all threw well. The bats started off a little cold, mainly because we had not seen live pitching all fall. We will continue to scrimmage about every 3 days, gradually working up the pitch count for pitchers. We continue to lift and condition throughout the fall season, keeping my days packed with things to do. The school work is now starting to pile up, I'm looking forward to fall break. Overall, the team is looking really promising, pitching looks impressive, hitting is coming on, and defense is awesome. Thats all from here, I'll try to update everyone in a week or two on how things are progressing.

    Lenoir Community College update:
Things going well. We are on fall break right now. Fall practice ends next week, ending with a Fall World Series in a couple of weeks. We have a Scout Day coming up in a little over a week I believe where Pro scouts and College scouts come look at us. Winter conditioning starts immediately following the Fall World Series.

I spoke with one of my good friends... Jon Willard (now playing RF, from Green Hope), who is now playin at South Carolina. Said he has hit real well this fall so far including one homerun that he mentioned in a scrimmage. He said Harris Honeycutt (RHP, Fuquay) is pitching real well too.

Also, my best friend... Brian Caudill (LHP, Cary), told me things at Appalachian State are going real well for him and he expects to be on the mound durin the spring.

I talk to Bryan Thomas every now and then who is at Virginia Tech. Said he thinks he will get some good playing time durin the spring at 2nd base. BT was a bigtime player for Hoggard HS in Wilmington.

It's good to hear from all the college guys. You're all representing this area very well, and we're proud of you! Dalton- we're pulling for you down here in Kannapolis! I know its hard work, but you're entering some of the best times of your lives. Just this past week I drove by my alma mater, and just for kicks drove out to the baseball field to see how it looked, and I couldn't believe the flood of memories that hit me as I drove by it. Enjoy these times, guys, and don't ever take it for granted!

    Hey everyone.

Game 1 of the UNC Fall World Series begins today at 3pm. The starting pitchers for the game are freshmen Andrew Miller and Daniel Bard.

    Game 2: Wednesday at 3

    Game 3: Friday at 3

Games 4 and 5: TBD if necessary

Note: The winning team of the series runs a 5 mile course around campus on December 8 and the losing team runs a 10 mile course on December 8. The losing team also sings Christmas Carols at our team's Christmas dinner at Coach Fox's house.

I hope that some will be able to make it up for a game. I promise, we are going to go at it.

Great read for the graduating seniors and what to expect in college their freshman year. It's kinda funny looking back at the posts now. Woody was a freshman back then, never anticipating that he would hold the UNC record for the most wins in school history...and after all his acclaim, he still posts on TBR

    lifting

I read a lot on here about college baseball players lifting weights for strength training.
Then I see where Andrew Brackman is blaming weight-lifting for his decline this season.
    ???

All Div.1 baseball players are included in some type of weight training, now could have been he did the wrong type and ended up bulking up.
    Just a thought.....
