Do you know why the Jr. Legion tourney was not set up so that every team got the chance to play at Grainger? Was that just too simple?

Wow, find something of subtance to complain about. I have no dog in this fight, no team there and could have cared less who won it or who played where. I guess since you are asking this question Rocky Mount didn't get to play there?

Not sure why... it's just the way things worked out. I don't think the Kinston Parks and Rec./Kinston Indians wanted to put the field through that much abuse. Heck, our parents were told not to come on the field after the championship game to take pictures because they thought it would mess up the grass.

You got it exactly right Tools. Neither did SW Brunswick. The LCC field didn't take rain as well as the stadium field. Aside from the fact that the stadium field probably was in better condition, I don't think it's unreasonable , or complicated to schedule so that every team gets a chance to play in a great venue. I realize that the tournament is the tournament, but I can assure you that all the kids were looking forward to playing in the stadium. You try to grab opportunities when they come along. I'm not sure how many times these boys will get a chance to play on a fine surface like that everyday. I'm just guessing, but I would asume that part of the appeal of playing in Kinston would be to play in Grainger, otherwise Kinston High School has a nice field.

Southern I can most definetly see where you are coming from. I know that if I was a player I would want to play at Grainger. It sounds from the rest of the post on the championship thread that the tourney was run well. I guess the easiest thing to do would have been to make sure that the top of half of the bracket played at Grainger day 1 and regardless of winning or losing the bottom half play there day 2. After that play where you may. Congrats to Cary!!

Well, if the Holy Father can't drive his dragster on the Yankee Stadium grass, American Legion parents don't have any business walking on the sainted grass of the Kinston Indians.
