I see it a little differently. I know who will work to win because I have watched these young ladies in camps when they were younger and during practice when they are on JV.

I want those 1-0 scrimmages so I can see who can perform against the best in the state, who can take the pressure in the 6th inning of a 0-0 ball game, who can get the bunt down in crunch time, who can make the defensive play that changes a ball game. I want to see all of that in a scrimmage rather than the alternative, which is find out that a player can't do that in a regular season game that might cost me a conference championship. Which might mean the difference between 3 home playoff games -vs- 3 away games.

    But thats just my feeling.

With you being a coach I pretty sure you already know who can do that on your team.Scrimages are for the coach to finish out his 7,8,9 players on his roster. To give all the quote non-starters a opportunity to make the line-up. But I see your point also.

Scrimmages are used at Central as a warm-up sessions with the intensity of real games. Everything/everyone has a purpose going into a scrimmage, but that 's why Central plays heck of a non-conference schedule. Say what you want about a scrimmage, but basically there is no pressure on the lesser teams to perform. If the pressure you need to win the state is happening in a scrimmage, teams are playing a weak non-conference schedule.

I see and respect both of your points. But like I said earlier I want the close scrimmage mainly because my 1st conference game is the 2nd game on my schedule and its not because I play a weak schedule like you implied. Maybe I should change my way of thinking to the way you see it CC. I mean you are from Central Cabarrus so you must be right.

The way I see scrimmages is to see what you have on your team from top to bottom, try some girls at places you think they may be good at and get the cobwebs out after an off season. Dont forget that most if not all schools will have some starters playing Basketball and not at the scrimmage. Scores mean nothing in scrimmages, its to see what you have and what you have to work on. Goal4x, I think CC was just stating what they want to get out of a scrimmage. :nono: Lets not start the flame wars over a scrimmage. :nono: There is time enough for that in May :laugh1:
Im looking forward to meeting old friends and making new ones up at forbush.
    See ya there

Yeah your right, no disrespect to CC or Monte (who puts in more time and effort than any coach in the state). I just made a comment on how I see scrimmages and CCFASTPITCH made it pretty clear that I was in fact wrong and probably had a really weak schedule to boot.I will try not to show my ignorance again. :xyzthumbs:xyzthumbs:xyzthumbs:xyzthumbs:xyzthumbs:xyzthumbs:xyzthumbs:xyzthumbs:xyzthumbs:xyzthumbs:xyzthumbs:xyzthumbs:xyzthumbs:xyzthumbs:xyzthumbs:xyzthumbs:xyzthumbs:xyzthumbs

Don't forget that certain plays and coverages (ex: bunts, slaps, 1st & 3rd, run downs, etc.) need to be run under game conditions.

This may sound strange, but I always wanted to see my team make mistakes in a scrimmage. That was always the best way to learn to do things right. Once you have corrected and practiced the right way to do things, usually we made the right play in the future.

Also scrimmaging and watching strong teams allowed our girls to learn from the other teams mistakes, plus many times we were put in situations some of the less experienced teams weren't able to do.
