EOR, I have never seen a team that Monte coaches wear shorts. They have always worn those long pin stripes.

    How did everyone do?

Our Butler Bulldogs ended the day with 2 wins and a tie
we Played Forbush (tie), Regan and Parkland
It was great for us as we brought up two Sophomore pitchers, Heather Gibble and Kelsey Spurrier that did great. They combined for the Forbush tie, and pitched an additional game each. They only allowed three or four hits for the day and have alot to be proud of. Jessica Bowen also had a good start with two home runs. Our team looked strong in the field and looked good at the plate as well
    Great job ladies :congrats:

Central Cabarrus looked pretty sharp for the most part, We defeated Reagan, Starmount and Parkland by a combined 30-2. Central collected 29 hits in 10 at bats including 2 homeruns by Chasity Covington. The pitching was sharp as well with Morgan Peeler and Emma Stevenson only giving up 2 runs and 1 earned run on only 5 hits for the day while striking out 17 and walking none. North Davidson scrimmage should be a little more of a test next week taking on ND, Kings Moutain, East Surry as well as Southern Alamance.

    makes sense

I don't see why more teams don't wear long pants especially in early season cool weather.

    tough

Just an observation; the long pants / pinstripes / sleeveless jersey tops "image" is a baseball-look and maybe presents a "tough" impression?? and with the eye black even more so? hey, whatever gets the job done. looks great.

    Beautiful Day for Softball

It was an absolutely beautiful day for softball! Saw some really good games. Butler looked good, N Iredell ok, Forbush looked good, W. Forsyth looked good, Hopewell had much better bats. Wow what a difference a week makes!
As for the long pants issue! A lot of the teams wear the long in cold weather but CC wears them and the eye black and ball caps not visors, to either look tough. Maybe noone has informed him, they're not boys, they're girls! Who knows? Psycho coaches ask psycho things sometimes I guess! It isn't what you wear, it is how you play the game!

Central Cabarrus Uniforms are the best looking uniforms I have seen. The long pants and hats make them look like a team that is taking the sport seriously.

What cracks me up is the shorts, with socks up to the knees and knee pads. Why do girls' teams wear shorts and then spend so much effort to cover up the rest of their legs? Do you think socks pulled up to the knees with knee pads over top are are any cooler in 100 degree weather than long pants? If you are worried about scarring up your legs, wear long pants. I do not follow the logic of shorts, long socks and knee pads. I think all teams should wear long pants if you expect them to slide.

Also, what is the logic on girls not wearing hats or visors? Numerous teams have no girls wearing hats or visors but yet allow the girls to wear sun glasses. What is the logic behind that move? Wear hats or visors if you are worried about the sun.

I'll take long pants and hats anyday! I love it over shorts, long socks, sliders and no hats, no visors and sunglasses. Its not about the look, it is about the girls being ready to play the game.

    no hats , visors

I'd say the preference to go w/o headwear is a girl thing. In rec ball that I coached, I noticed the older the girls got, the less headwear they cared to sport. It got to the point that buying caps or visors was a waste. I don't think our HS team purchases any headwear for the girls anymore.

I suspect that for teams that you may see that ALL wear the exact same full uniforms top to bottom, that is a team that has a coach that REQUIRES it , no questions asked.

I agree about the long pants and sliding and cold weather. I think the CC "look" is great and I'm not even anywhere near that part of the State; just noticed the pictures of CC.
I also think that the "shorts" look with long socks / knee pads, slider pads, etc and no cap or visor has evolved as a girls softball "look" thing for comfort and to distance the sport from baseball.
