    Thanks Thad from PHS

It was a very nice day and our team & parents had a very nice time. We will definitely be looking to make this a yearly event. There are a lot of positive things to say about the facility & organization of the tournament. Not sure if anyone else had this thought, but I did ask Coach Fox about the lack of fencing in the OF & if that is something that can be added next year so outfielder's can work on cuts, throws & communication as well as base runners having to work on things themselves. Having an automatic GR2 kills these items. We personally would not mind paying an extra $20-25 to help cover the fence rental. If each team pitched in the extra cash, all fields could be fenced...just a suggestion.

I think we had three homers on the day, but were ruled GR2 because of the lack of fence. The Providence Girls were 3-0 against Science Hill, S. Caldwell & East Burke. The freshmen debut on the day was a very good one. Our Fab Five Freshies are great kids and four of the five did a great job (was missing one due to a family matter). No defensive errors except for one little stumble on a fly ball. Leah Quant did a very nice job on the mound & moved her pitches well. Lauren Habig also finished up her day nicely. Looking forward to a fun and exciting year! Once again we are blessed with some good talent, great kids & families.

    Good Day For Softball

The weather was good in Morganton for softball yesterday, saw some good games with some graet athletes. The Freedom scores are as follows: Freedom-3 West Stokes-1, Freedom-9 Kings Mtn-1, Freedom-2 Mt Pleasent-1 and Freedom-1 Weddington-0. The Freedom Weddington game was a good test for both teams, turn into a pitching duel. A lot of teams were missing some players still, it should only get better.
