the teams I saw today looked good concidering that most schools have only had a week or so of practice. I watched freedoms 3-games and congrats to them on finishing the day by winning their games. There was alot of good softball today, AC played well as expected along with Butler too. But the year is young and alot of SOFTBALL to play.

I didn't see everyone so can only comment on ones I saw.
Alexander, Butler, St Stephens looked pretty good.
South Caldwell, Bandys, and Weddington were pretty bad

Coach Foxx, We up at Watauga appreciate the hospitality and opportunity. Speaking as one that was out there, it was good to see sooo many people out in the the early season supporting their programs.

Also, Coach we appreciate you working with us so we could get our games in and get back before the roads got too bad up here in the mountains. I really appreciate it since I was the one driving the bus.

Saw some good ball. After our first game, we settled down and played well against East Rutherford (got to take a look at a freshman pitcher that held East scoreless with only one hit) and opportunity to take on Hopewell which we faired very well against.

Can't wait to get the season started. We are off to Kings Mountian next weekend then the real thing starts.

Good luck to everyone this season.

i saw ac `s varsity play 2 games and they have a great 1-2 punch! laxton looked good as did freshman jessica childers. childers hit a bomb also.was surprised the east rutherford coach pitched such a fit when bolick refused to play at 11.30 because the field was too slick!!! laxton threw 1 pitch and fell down, no way do you risk hurting your ace in a scrim. game!!!! she wanted her 55 min on the field!!!!!!!!!!!!! the achs jv team beat bunker hills varsity team 9-4. very good looking team with loads of speed!!!!! ac will host a scrim. on the 24th! lets hope that its alot warmer!!!

Yea to be honest it probablly wasn't to smart on the part of any of the coaches to be playing under the weather and field conditions. I know everyone was just like ME and wanted to get the season going but there were probablly more harm than good done yesterday. I know of a couple injuries contributed to the cold and slick fields (pulled or torn muscles) and I'm sure there were some I don't know of. Good to see at least one coach used some better judgement. I know ours wasn't smart enough to do that. I also wonder how many expensive bats were ruined. Hopefully it will warm up soon

    Too Cold, But Great Ball

It was way toooo cold yesterday but there were a lot of great ball games played. I don't think that the games should have been called for the weather! College teams play in those conditions every year! If you are smart and warm your teams up properly and treat the equipment properly everything will be fine! If you let players take the field that are not properly warmed up, then YES, you are asking for a problem. I have seen games go on in a pouring rain, you think no one fell down in that? It is as the old saying goes, that is the way the chips fell! Had a great time trying to stay warm and watched a lot of determined athletes show their stuff. And FREEZE their bottoms off (talk about dedication)!
:rock_band: Thought, Butler looked, strong as normal, Hopewell needs to work with bats, but pitching looked solid, Science Hill looked ready, also solid pitching, Freedom looked ready to go. Like I said saw a lot of good fastpitch. :twocents: Peace, Love and happiness!
