I know some schools have freshmen teams for boy's basketball.

I was curious do any schools have a freshmen team for baesball.

If so, what schools have them?

Who do they play if there are few teams around them that have a freshmen team?

None in Mecklenburg County that I'm aware of have a fresmen team. Almost all have JV. Believe JH Rose has a freshmen team.

JV at this time if Forsyth. I think you may start seeing less JV teams travel or sponsored by the school as money gets tighter & tighter. Not soon but down the road.

Both JH Rose and DH Conley have Freshmen teams.

It is not unusual for JHR to have 25+ kids each year try out for Freshman ball. I know DHC had a large turnout this past year.

As far as scheduling, they obviously play DHC's Freshmen, but play other area school's JV teams (out of conference 2A and 3A schools). Coaches of these schools like to schedule JHR, because they know traditionally, even though they are Freshmen, there will be a good group on the field and make for some solid competition. The schedule is usually around 12-15 games totalled. The 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007 Freshmen classes I believe all went undefeated.

It certainly seasons them and has them ready to play JV games in and out of conference. Typically, it is Soph's only that play JV. Ocassionally, a Fresh will be pulled up to play, to fill a need or to have a few extras on the roster for an Easter Tourney.
