I missed my chance to highlight the New Bern/DH Conley matchup since they squeezed that game in on thursday. Also Scotland/Lumberton played early this week.

In 4A ball, there are 3 games that I watching today.

Hopewell versus Independence: Hopewell stumbled to a 1-4 start, but have come back with a vengance, going 4-1 lately. They lost a close game to Central Cabarrus and need a win tonight to stay within striking distance in the Meca 8. Independence had a few games early on that weren't as sharp, but they have been playing very well, with their only loss in conference to North Meck. They topped Central Cabarrus on tuesday. This one should be a real battle. It's a tough week for Indy having both Central and Hopewell the same week.

Butler versus East Meck: Another battle for the current #2 spot, this time in the SW4A. They look to battle for potential playoff positioning. East is 4-1 in conference while Butler is tied for 3rd with South Meck and Olympic at 3-2. Providence sits alone in first at the minute, facing Olympic tonight. This should be a good game. East had South Meck earlier this week and may suffer a letdown. In the SW4A, each loss is critical this season.

AC Reynolds versus South Caldwell: South is on a roll this season, but this is potentially a very tough game for them with ACHS looming next tuesday. ACR is a very good team. It should be a great battle. SC and ACHS are undefeated in conference play.

Alexander Central is on a roll this season, but this is potentially a very tough game for them with South Caldwell looming next tuesday. Watauga is a very good team. ACHS and SC are undefeated in conference play.

Sorry about the plagarism, but I couldn't resist. ACR and Watauga both have two conference losses and desperately need wins to stay alive. These games feature the top 4 teams in the NW4A-JV & varsity going head to head.
These are unquestionably the biggest games of the season in the NW4A for ACR & Watauga. Wins by SC and Alexander turn this into a two team race.
