How did the gold pool red teams do at the Winthrop fields?
I went over there on both days during our breaks to see the college teams play and saw alot of college coaches watching the red pool teams play, not nearly the same exposure at cherry park, saw only three pass by while we were playing, thats better than last week though, at wilmington we saw none at all and we played the championship game
The Randolph Rage went 4-1 in gold pool white, winning vs.
    Lookouts 4-0,Knockouts 6-0,Lady Lightning 2-0,Fire&Ice 3-1,lost 5-3 vs.dominators

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Valerie, you know I'm real partial here but what the heck,to celebrate her 17th birthday this weekend she batted .667 with a .785 on base% and went 4-0 pitching

Erica Fairchild gets props too, batting .578 last tournament also

If these colleges were in attendance and willing to sign in at Eagle, then why would they not be willing to sign in at Cherry also? There were only 5 signed in at Cherry Sat afternoon. After speaking to several parents, players, coaches, we saw very few that actually showed at Cherry.

Have seen and spoken to several of the scouts from the colleges listed and did not see anywhere near that many around and had the pleasure of being at the park from 7 AM until 7 PM on Sat, so I had plenty of time to sit and people watch.

Very disappointed with this event this past weekend:mad:

It appears that the fall is not a good time for showcase tournaments.College coaches are working on their own programs, so not much time to look at prospects. Some teams do not even play in the fall.I talked to NC State coach over summer, & he said he was allowed 2 tours in fall. He was going to Cal. for 1, & didn't know bout the other. Plantation would be my guess. For past 2 falls now coaches have been at a minimum. We'll see how early signing showcase does as far as turnout, college fall ball will be over then. Myself, I hope next yr, our team will go to Scrappers in Va.

    Fall Showcases

My feeling is that a lot of good ball players will get picked up by DIIs and DIIIs that don't have the same restrictions as DIs in the fall. I think that the DI programs have actually hurt themselves by voting to allow attendance only at a couple of showcase tournaments in the fall. Time will tell. The DIs will have to really be on their toes during the summer recruiting season and pencil their recruits way early.
Not everyone can afford the trips to CA and FL in the fall.
I heard just today of a pretty good pitcher who will sign at either a DII or JUCO school just to get the signing business out of the way. She doesn't want to wait. Can't say as I blame her. It can be pretty nerve racking on a kid.

Could you post the scores from the Gold brackets? The A brackets too, if you have the space. I know most of the college coaches were involved with their own teams. I did not see any college coaches that were not playing at Wintrop attend any games at Wintrop or Cherry. If teams sign up for this next year, make sure you are playing TB on two fields along with College teams playing on the other two. I had understood that is was going to be that way when we signed up.

Yes, that was the way it was suppose to be. Coach Cooke at Winthrop decided to change that 2 weeks leading up to the tournament. I hate that it didn't work out to where college and JO teams were playing at both facilities. That was the original plan and a good plan to benefit all involved. College coaches were notified of this tournament. The advertising is done to make them aware. It is still their ultimate decision to attend. JO Coaches and players have to do their part to bring coaches to not just this tournamnet, but all tournaments. Teams and especially players have to sell themselves. Randomly showing up at fields to watch is at the bottom of the list on most coaches agendas. When college coaches go to a tournament they have a list of prospects they're interested in and they have a list of prospects that have contacted them. After they have done this part and they still want to hang around, then they go watch teams that they are familiar with/have a repore with and/or have good track records. After that if they have time or want to hang around, then they may randomly go to a field and watch a game. Bottom line is if you want coaches to come watch your team play, then the coaches and players have to email and call and the college coaches. You have to tell them when and where you're playing. When that is done, then more will come. Tournaments just provide the venue for teams to show their stuff. It is up to the teams and players to sell themselves. The longer a tournament is around, the more teams sign up typically, and more colege coaches will come.

you are correct and the college coaches that came by our games are actively recruiting two of our players and knew before hand that we would be there. My question to you is for next year's tournament. If it comes down to one field or even two at eagle why cant all teams pitching at 43' rotate through there,at least for one game. This time of year all the college players that were on some of those TB teams that dominated in the summer are gone and some of the teams at cherry were as good as anybody at eagle.I know they were because we have played most of the teams at both parks this year.If we all pay the same entry fee then we all should get the same exposure
