An impressive line-up of baseball’s best young talent will be on display at the inaugural Michal Jordan Nissan Futures Classic at The Old Durham Athletic Park on Saturday, June 26.

The game will feature five local all-stars among the 30 players selected for the event, including pitcher Graham Edwards of Middle Creek High School, Millbrook pitcher Brian Nobles, outfielder Stephen Scott of Cardinal Gibbons, catcher Thomas Yoder of Green Hope, and D.J. Burt of Fuquay-Varina.

Three top pitching prospects head up the out-of-town contingent, including Bailey Ober of Charlotte Christian, Andre Scrubb of Washington, DC and Parker Johnson of TC Roberson in Asheville.

Johnson recorded 151 strikeouts in 86 innings with an ERA of 1.21, Scrubb had 71 strikeouts in 56 innings with an ERA of 1.26, while Ober – a 6-foot-8 right-hander threw a no-hitter and a two-hitter in the NCHSAA 3A championship series.

“This game brings together a tremendous group of young men who have the athletic potential and academic ability to play in college and possibly beyond,” said Clay Council, coach of the Gold Team.
