Let's put the fan vs. fan stuff to rest. There are good ones and bad ones everywhere you go. Can we just talk about the game. What will ND try to do to manufacture runs on the best arm in the state? How in the world will ND's #3 be able to slow down SC's freight train lineup? You know stuff like that.

Very true...it makes for good hype. But it would be nice to discuss strategies...of course in SC's case, their strategy is pretty simple.

One thing I have noticed and it is a surprise to me, is that teams do not use small ball against Madison. it's like mano y mano. It is not the best strategy against him. In fact, if you are going to beat Bumgarner, you need to get to him early.

I totally agree that this is a moment for the spotlight to be on the kids. It's a game we all dreamed about playing growing up: one step from a shot at the title.

You are absolutely correct Ukey. Allow me to share my side of this. I went to a playoff game 4 years ago and there was, at best, 50 people at the game. It was pathetic and I said to myself if there was anyway that TBR could play a role in increasing interest in a game, then I will do my part to help garner interest in HS baseball.

The newspapers will cover the game and the players involved, but that's all. We will discuss everything. We have knowledgeable supporters from each school that will inform us the details of players, coaches and past performances. What I hope to achieve is to gather interest from someone that may be a casual fan or someone that had no intention of coming to read TBR and decide, "I have to see this game".

If we play a small role in helping garner attention to HS baseball, in general, and to a particular game, specifically, then it makes posting all of my crazy stuff worthwhile.

I'll talk baseball with anyone all day long, but I also take the position of doing everything I can to promote HS baseball and the fan interest....and that takes some creativity.

I respect where you are coming from and I don't disagree at all, but I hope you understnd where I am coming from

I dont think very many kids want to square for the bunt against him because of a couple reasons.
1: you have a 90+ mph fb screaming down on you from a 6' 5" lefty who might just drill you (unintentionally of coarse)with it. Be ready for a little up & in baby. But remember it is all part of the game.
2: Madison is a very good defensive pitcher so i dont think small ball is the best approach.

maybe the long ball will be your best approach!! :bucktooth: :lipsrsealed2:

I'm curious: how did Madison lose 2 games this year? Was it small ball or long ball or a contol issue or what?
