    ABD Bulldogs 11, Diamond Devils 18’s 1

The ABD Bulldogs blitzed the Diamond Devils with 10 hits in 4 innings, including 2 home runs, and added 7 stolen bases to win by the 10-run mercy rule. 3B Tony Haro (Riverside CC) and 2B Joe Spiers (’04 Arrowhead Christian HS, San Bernardino, CA) hit the 2 home runs in ABD’s 8 run third inning. Haro also had a run scoring double an inning earlier. Express 5, Georgia A’s 0

RHP Tyler Collins (’03) threw a 7-inning one-hitter to highlight Charlotte’s 5-0 victory over the Georgia A’s. Collins allowed a 5th inning single to C Trent Bianco (’03, Columbus State) and only two other base runners. C Michael Bogart (’05, Ashbrook HS, Gastonia, NC) led the Express attack, going 3-3 with a double, 2 runs and 2 rbi’s. Charlotte scored their 5 runs against RHP Brooks Brown, a U. On Deck lost 11-3 today. They had to face a 6-7 righty named Stuart Pomeranz who was drafted in the second round of the MLB draft by the Cardinals.

Tomorrow they face the guys who were national champs last year. A team called the Florida Bombers. Tough draw all the way around for On Deck.

I was telling some people before the tournament that On Deck could be 0-3 and still play well...I am very familiar with the talent for the first 3 teams that they play. All 3 teams are in the Top 10 nationally....and it doesn't get any easier tomorrow.

Morgan Tyson is on the bump for On Deck

Congrads to Travis Moore(ABD Bulldogs)! Travis a very good outfielder from G'boro. He played with my son on the NC Cardinals for several years. He has plus speed on the bases. He ran a 6.64 at Perfect Game's Sunshine East Showcase! A very good 2004 prospect!

An update of the Diamond Devil's game today:

    All-Star Baseball Academy 5 (0-2-1), Diamond Devils 18’s 5 (1-1-1)

DH Matt Willard (’04, Council Rock North HS, Newtown, PA) smashed a 3-run home run in the bottom of the 7th inning to pull All-Star Baseball Academy into a 5-5 tie with Diamond Devils 18’s. Willard’s home run was his third hit of the game, following a double and single. The Diamond Devils had took and early 4-0 lead, highlighted by 2B Reid Fronk’s (’04, Charlotte Christian Academy, NC) bases loaded triple in the 2nd inning. 3B Stuart Bost (’04, Charlotte Christian Academy, NC) had 3 hits and scored 2 runs for the Diamond Devils. C Pat Dufrayne (’04, The Shipley School, Drexel Hill, PA) had 2 hits and an Rbi for All-Star Baseball Academy and started the 7th inning rally with a single.

    Florida Bombers 9 (3-0), On Deck O’s 2 (0-3)

RHP Sean Watson (’03, Tennessee) threw 4 1-hit innings to pace the defending champion Florida Bombers to a 9-2 victory over the On Deck O’s and a 3-0 record in pool play. Watson consistently pitched at 91 mph early in the game and retired the last 11 hitters he faced, leaving with a 7-0 lead. The Bomber offense again presented a balanced attack, as 8 players scored runs and 7 collected base hits. C J.P. Arencibia (’04, Westminster Christian, Homestead, FL) had 2 hits and 3 Rbi’s to lead the effort.

    On Deck O's 3 BC Royals 0

This was BC's first loss in the tournament as TJ Worrell (5 2/3) and Josh Mangum (1 1/3) combined on a 4 hit shutout....big win for the O's.
