It's no prettier down on the coast right now ... In a 1A matchup, Ayden-Grifton and Farmville Central managed to play a game of mudball. Virtually every other matchup down east was rained out.

The game matched up the leaders in the 1A Carolina Conference. The umpires ruled the field became unplayable after 6 innings, but that was still long enough for the Ayden-Grifton Chargers to post a 7-0 win.

    Records:
    Ayden-Grifton Chargers (11-3, 5-1 Carolina)
Farmville Central Jaguars (5-6, 4-1 Carolina)

    Two Rivers Conference

After coming out of the gate strong, EE Smith has faded badly in conference .... picked early on to be a contender, they have fallen on hard times. At the same time, South View continues to cruise along. This race appears over and none of the other horses have anything left to challenge South View. With 7 conference games left, look for SV to remain undefeated this season UNLESS they are upset in an easter tournament this year.

    Two Rivers Conference

    School Name.., W-L, CWL
    South View HS 12-0, 5-0
    Purnell Swett, 6-5, 4-2
    Lumberton High 3-8, 3-2
    Pine Forest H 10-3, 3-3
    Cape Fear High 7-5, 2-3
    Terry Sanford, 5-7, 1-4
    E.E. Smith HS, 8-6, 1-5

Congratulations to Tuscola!!! Great team, Great Guys!!! These guys are loaded with ligit prospects that know how to play together as a team. They have to be the odds on favorite to win the NC 3A title.

Please keep reporting their results for those of us in the foothills.

Tuscola downed New Bern tonight 14-1 to win the Classic. Steven Reinhold homered 3 times to lead the Mountaineer offense, and received the tournament MVP award.

As soon as you thought it was safe to go out into the water.....

Upset city again.......Ranked 4A teams have been falling all week long ... here is another one. Previously ranked #2 in the latest 4A BCA poll.

Terry Sanford 3, South View 1

    In other action:
    Lumberton 15, E.E. Smith 3
Cape Fear 3, Purnell Swett 1
Hoke County 8, Jack Britt 1,

Then their were two ... Fuquay-Varina, Riverside ..... hmmm
oops .. make that one undefeated left in 4A baseball in the state. Fuquay-Varina is the only one left standing.

South View tripped up again in their own tournament

Results from the South View Easter Tournament

South View 2, Harnett Central 1
    Garner 2, South View 1

Obviously, it shows how good South View is playing Garner that tough. When Hempy is on the mound (and I don't know that he was), Garner is tough to beat.
