    Fuquay 5 Lee Co. 3

FV hammered out 3 HR's (Mangum, Lewis, Evans) tonight and Honeycutt got the win going all seven. Fuquay is getting ready to defend their title as there are only 3 games remaining. (Apex, Cary, and Green Hope) Their next game is Fri. against Apex. Despite loss Fuquay is still ranked 17th in new BA national poll slipping 2 spots from the previous week. FV-18-1(7-1)

J H Rose was pushed hard all night by D H Conley down in an important Big East matchup but escaped with an 8-7 victory. This locks up the conference for Rose (18-1, 8-0 in conf play).

D H Conley falls to 5-3 in conference play, fighting Havelock for the critical last 4A playoff slot. Conley's record is now 13-7, 5-3 in conference play.

Meanwhile in heavy action in the 2 Rivers and Mid Southeastern conferences ....

South View 7, Purnell Swett 1
    Pine Forest 4, Lumberton 3
    Jack Britt 8, Westover 2
    Seventy First 9, Hoke 8
    Pinecrest 8, Douglas Byrd 4
    Terry Sanford 10, E.E. Smith 3

Hillsborough-Orange had to overcome a 4 run deficit, but they came back to win 7-5 against Person last night. This cements Orange in first in the PAC 6..

Person (my pick for third) has a tough uphill battle now with their 1-5 conference record, having to climb past Northern Nash, East Chapel Hill and Jordan, all at 2-4 in conference.

Just a few tidbits from some "far" far east locations.

Saw that W.Columbus is currently in 1st in the 2A Waccamaw. That conference seems to have been beating up on each other all year -- just an observation from afar.

East Carteret and East Duplin are currently tied for 1st in the East Central 2A. Both are 7-1 and have yet to play each other. They will go Friday and Monday. Croatan looks to be the #3.

North Brunswick will win the Coastal Plains 1A and Topsail will finish 2nd. #3 -- ????. Pamlico?

Clinton is currently unbeaten in the Tri Six 2A, but I'm sure W.Bladen is somewhere close.

In the Super Six 1A, Midway and Wallace Rose Hill are apparently tied for 1st, they play this Friday night. I think James Kenan is #3.

It's great to have you on the board .... I've been trying to update things for people in the western part of the state, but I have NO FEEL for the 1A/2A teams down in the the eastern part of the state. I know they are playing good ball. This thread has been hard to maintain all the way from Charlotte......

    so finally again .....

    WELCOME ABOARD
