    ....is great, but..........

WAKE UP KIDS! Cars are not toys and PLEASE be extra careful to be safe.
Respect the car and its power, respect your passengers and the other folks on the road by driving safe.

This month I've read about 4 more HS kids killed in car wrecks. God bless these kids and their families.

Just a reminder kids...........Don't going bein' stupid on the fishman.

    Great advice!

Every opportunity I get I try to talk to kids about safe driving. There are a couple of things in particular that someone needs to talk to every kid about.

    1. If you run off on the shoulder take your foot off the gas. You will slow down quickly without braking. The car will sound like it's disintegrating but it's just loud noise--don't panic. DO NOT jerk the car back onto the road. If possible it would be great to take your kid to a country road and let them feel what it's like to run onto the shoulder.

    2. When sitting at a red light and it changes to green, treat it like a stop sign. Look both ways and then go.

    3. Do not pass another vehicle until you have many hours driving experience under your belt. They taught us in defensive driving: if you pass someone, you are going too fast. If someone passes you, you are going too slow.

Those are the main ones I like to talk about. Especially number one!!!!

    Parents set the example!

.....speed kills! Ignorance is a catalyst for trouble.

Overconfidence of an inexperienced driver results in bad things. Nuff said about that.

I like your suggestion about teaching the "off the road onto the shoulder" gig and how to relax and not over react.

    God bless our kids

    BUCKLE UP!!!!

In the last four years, fifteen, yes 15, teenagers in the Huntersville area have been killed in auto accidents and all were not wearing a seat belt.

How many would have survived wearing a seat belt, I don't know, but I feel certain some would have.

    PLEASE BUCKLE UP!!!
