To all of our readers in the eastern part of the state...we are thinking of you and hoping that you are out of harm's way tomorrow and Friday!

Thanks.....it looks like we're going to have a rough ride Thursday.

I told some friends in the chat room that I don't own a boat, but there's a chance I'll have one in my yard after tomorrow :(

Seriously, here in the east, we've been praying mainly that He will keep us safe. Although no one wants to go through it, houses can be rebuilt, cars and boats can be replaced, but family and friends cannot be replaced.

I'll check back tomorrow morning, as long as the electricity stays on!

    Thanks Phantom...

Especially since as of right now every other school around here (ECU, NC STATE, MEREDITH, and DUKE) have cancelled classes for tomorrow, except for us up here at UNC. So it looks like I am going to have a fun walk at 7:30 in the morning walking all the way across campus. At least we will be able to still have practice indoors. Wish me luck on my walk.

I just drove into Gastonia from Montgomery, AL and there were convoys of "power company" trucks and "tree service" vehicles headed your way. We're still praying that the storm turns or greatly weakens overnight! You all will be in our prayers 'til it's over.

Just a thought..perhaps you can ask your coach to time your wind-aided FB. I bet you can reach 100+ :D

    Good morning everyone. Brief update.

Power went out about 7:30 this morning, and was restored at 9:00 AM. Hard to imagine power crews out in this weather! But they tell me they will work until constant wind velocity exceeds 30 mph, which we seem to be approaching now (11:00 AM)

Storm surge up the Neuse river is starting to flood low areas in Craven County. News reports indicate the emergency shelters are experiencing higher numbers than in the past. This is good that many in these low areas have evacuated. I suppose an arguement could be made that all of eastern NC is low, since a high spot here is only about 17 feet above sea level.

A lot of rain has already fallen. A lot more will, I'm sure. The good news is that Isabel is a fast mover. Once she moves inland, the winds will change direction and move a lot of this water out.

    JM15,

Haven't heard much about Kinston. Radio is the best we have. Although power is on right now, tv reception is poor to non-existent. Looks like we will be on the southwest side of this thing, which is better than being on the northeast side, but we will still get a healthy dose of Isabel's wind, I'm sure. Tidal surge is having an impact along the river.

I'll let you know if I hear anything as long as I've still got an internet connection.
