I am thankful to see that God still attends Baseball games. May he continue to bless each of you with good health, happiness and great baseball!

God was a big part of my summer baseball experience. The opportunity to work with Christian men and good kids and their parents allowed me to endure the weekends away from my church family. If you want to be truly blessed, then attend a Bible study led by Mark Tarleton.

Mark used to get upset because I always had my hands on his shirt tail. He thought I was trying to get him to part with his money, but I was holding on for insurance. He is one of the closest people I know that is a living saint and I felt if I could hold on to him, I could go with him.

If God is a part of your life then he will be a part of your baseball as well. That is an awesome picture.

    Remember what it's all about!

Baseball is a great sport, but in the total realm of things it is very insignificant. Examine yourself, and define "The Meaning of Life". How do you fit in? GOD will be as big a part of your life as you will let HIM be.

Coach Tarelton and Coach Evans, you are both fine men. Thank you for a great summer, and may GOD continue to bless you.

Just got off the phone with Mark... he told me I was ruining his reputation :satana: My response simply put was that theres more where that came from.

Seriously Mark and Kevin Ferrell (South Granville) are fine Christian men and good examples to be around...

    Sports

I was raised in a good Christian home by two parents that made sure we were in church every Sunday , Sunday night and Weds night. But I like alot of young kids had some bad influences during my teens. If not for my HS football Coach Monte Davis at Southern Durham HS I dont know where I would have ended up. He was a person that set great examples for me and a person that lived what he preached. Through football he taught me life lessons that I still use today and preach to my kids as well. I have been fortunate to coach with great men and none better than Kevin Ferrell at South Granville HS. And I have been fortunate to coach against great men that set a tremendous example for their players such as Steve Evans at Roxboro Person HS. No one gets after it harder than I do on a baseball field. In practice I make no bones about it you better get after it. And in a game you better go just as hard as you do in practice. But I have learned that you can be a nice guy off the field and a classy guy on the field and earn the respect of your opponents while still trying to kick their ***. Thanks to all the guys that set such fine examples for our young men. My son respects Coach Evans bigtime. Because he always wins with class and he looses with class. He never takes credit for the wins and he always take the credit for a loss. He always has a kind word for our boys before during and after games. And his players always play hard and play with class. That is a sign of a great coach. The actions of a coaches players speaks for the coach.

    Thanks Coach---

I thought I would pass this on to you here at TBR... It is from an email i recently received. I don't know who to give credit to, these words are not mine at all...

    THE LORD'S BASEBALL GAME

Freddy and the Lord stood by to observe a baseball game. The Lord's team was playing Satan's team.

The Lord's team was at bat, the score was tied zero to zero, and it was the bottom of the 9th inning with two outs. They continued to watch as a batter stepped up to the plate named 'Love.'

Love swung at the first pitch and hit a single, because "Love never fails."

The next batter was named Faith, who also got a single because Faith works with Love.

The next batter up was named Godly Wisdom. Satan wound up and threw the first pitch.

Godly Wisdom looked it over and let it pass: Ball one. Three more pitches and Godly Wisdom walked because he never swings at what Satan throws.

The bases were now loaded. The Lord then turned to Freddy and told him He was now going to bring in His starplayer. Up to the plate stepped Grace. Freddy said, "He sure doesn't look like much!"

Satan's whole team relaxed when they saw Grace. Thinking he had won the game, Satan wound up and fired his first pitch. To the shock of everyone, Grace hit the ball harder than anyone had ever seen! But Satan was not worried; his center fielder let very few get by.

He went up for the ball, but it went right through his glove, hit him on the head and sent him crashing on the ground. The roaring crowds went wild as the ball continued over the fence . . for a home run!

    The Lord's team won!
The Lord then asked Freddy if he knew why Love, Faith and Godly Wisdom could get on base but couldn't win the game. Freddy answered that he didn't know why.

The Lord explained, "If your love, faith and wisdom had won the game, you would think you had done it by yourself. Love, Faith and Wisdom will get you on base but only My Grace can get you Home:

'For by Grace are you saved, it is a gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9

Psalm 84:11, "For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly."

    Jesus' Test

This is an easy test; you score 100 or zero. It's your choice. If you aren't ashamed to do this, please follow the directions. Jesus said, "If you are ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of you before my Father."

Not ashamed!! Pass this on, if you mean it.
, I do Love God. He is my source of existence and Savior. He keeps me functioning each and everyday. Without Him, I am nothing, but with him:

"I can do all things through Christ
    who strengthens me."
    Phil 4:13
    Amen.

God was big part of my baseball career. I remember asking God to help me get a hit plenty of times. I also remember asking him to not let me get by the maniac throwing out of control 96 mph fastballs.
