In a manner befitting a true gentleman, the oft remembered, but seldom contributing poster, "Grayben" delivered on an old bet last evening. Just as he was coaxed into presenting lambasting tirades on TBR, he may have as easily been duped into providing dinner at the simple, but elegant Beef Master in Wilson,NC. Although I remember no details of the bet, the poster, "Baseball Britt" quickly spun Grayben's head with small taps of guilt due to him betting against his son and his Golden Demon teammates vs. Rocky Mount(Demons won in extra innings). I thought it was a hot dog bet, but thanks to the circle talking Britt, it wound up being a Beef Master pay day, and it was excellent. We reminded the gray one that it's not wise to bet against your kin folks, especially when it's Bentley Massey Jr.

Grayben can go double or nothing when Barton goes to Abbey, Feb.28th.

Now I'm really confused. I thought I finagled in on that bet and to find out the payoff was the Beef Mastor Inn!? I'm hurt....another slight from my so-called friends from the east.

...and to think what I had last night was a BK Big Shot:saw:

Double or nothing might be too steep for Britt and I. On second thought, a double or nothing would allow Braves and Stretchy to dine as well.

No more bets with the pay off being Beefmaster. As I told Southern and Baseball Britt, I had to sell my Babe Ruth rookie card to pay for their meal!
    I'm done!

Er, excuse me...but, I think I have a faint recollection that I might have been a party to whatever bet was involved here.

In view of the fact that I am coming to North Carolina today and will be spending most of my time in the Triangle area this weekend, I think it would only be fitting if Grayben (or anyone else who might be so inclined) continued to make good on his obligations to those of us who (might) have been involved, as well.

Given his son's excellent start to his college career (Congrats, Bentley!), I'm counting on the fact that Grayben is in good enough a mood these days to think there's something behind this.

Southern01, I'm looking very forward to seeing you and Southern01 Jr. at the New Bosh this weekend! My "inside plant" in the ticket office assured me that he could get me a ticket as far down the 3rd base line as one can get.

As a "Railbird Emeritus," I'm skeptical about having to watch from the "wrong" side of the diamond; but, I suppose I'll get used to it. At least I take heart in the fact that 3rd base umpires seem to require every bit as much "advice"as their brethren on 1st base seemed to require. I

I hope to see as many friends as possible down there during any of the 3 games.

You know what Prep, now that you mention it, this bet MAY have been more expansive that originally reported. If I know Britt, he'll likely convince Grayben that the bet did in fact include you, and Robert as well. Let's see, 3:00 pm start on Friday, 6:00 pm finish, 1.5 hr. drive time to Wilson, Grayben delivers on the originally agreed to terms, and about 4 more people have enjoyed the trappings of the Beef Master!!!

I can't tell you how pleased I am to hear that Grayben has finally decided to dust off some of that money he hordes. I must say I am a bit surprised, pleasantly so, that Grayben has agreed to include all parties involved with this bet...it's the right thing to do.

Good job, Grayben!...and you can continue to count on me to stand up (pun intended) to Stretchy, when he makes those disparaging remarks about your alligator arms.

I think this is shaping up very nicely, Southern01. I'll let Robert know that we'll be eating steak tomorrow night!
