Didn't mean to imply anything against the hitter. I knew it to be unintentional. It happens. I was referring to the bit of negative PR I got for having her go back to the plate when it came her time in the batting order.

The hitter apologized to me, but I told her she's supposed to hit the ball. Unfortunately, the pitcher is very close. A hitter can be dominated one time, and the next time hit a rocket. Don't think it could have been much worse. Hopefully if the ball was hit a little higher, she gets a glove on it. We'll never know. The umps definitely don't need to squeeze the pitcher (not saying he was). It was a 3-1 fastball, and that 's tough on the pitcher, and great for the hitter. We've had this topic, but I'm all in favor of moving back to 43 feet. It would put more emphasis on movement, and give the pitcher more reaction time.

I think a couple of states have already mandated 43 feet for high school age girls......It definitely would be safer for the pitcher, and would make the game more exciting (more hits & more defense). Good luck with the rest of the season..!
