Softball Rookie Pitcher of the Week
Hannah Pennell, Greensboro - The Statesville, North Carolina freshman tallied a 3-0 record with one save in four appearances, all versus USA South competition, last week for The Pride. Pennell allowed one unearned run on ten hits with seven walks and eight strikeouts in 15.1 innings pitched last week. In a doubleheader sweep of Meredith, Pennell picked up both wins. In a 2-1 game-one victory, Pennell pitched the final 2.1 innings and did not allow a run on one hit with two walks. In an 8-0 game-two win, Pennell went the distance and allowed five hits with one walk and one strikeout. In a doubleheader sweep of N.C. Wesleyan, Pennell picked up a win and a save. In a 6-5 game-one win, Pennell recorded the final three outs to earn a save. In an 11-1, six-inning game-two win, Pennell tossed a complete-game, allowing one unearned run on four hits with four walks and five strikeouts.
