aside from Adam Griffin of course, what are some of the hardest throwing sophomores or freshman you have ever seen?

    Here's Two:

The best sophomore pitcher I've seen "period" this year is Benton Moss, a righty from Rocky Mount Senior High. Benton is undefeated (13-0) in his RMSH career so far. Benton gives Rocky Mount the best 1-2 combination pitching staff in the East.:cheers2:

Another sophomore that shows alot of potential is Nathan Ferrell. Nate is a lefty from Southwest Edgecombe High School.

I have heard many great things about Benton, I have still not yet seen him pitch but maybe we will see him in the playoffs this year.

    Question

Are you looking for ever seen or this past season? And are you wanting pitchers throwing strikes or throwers throwing hard?

This season, I don't want kids that can just throw the ball hard but actual pitchers. Kids that can throw for strikes and have more than a fastball as well.

Having seen Benton Moss pitch since he was 9 yrs old he has alot of upside. He can throw a very nice curve, splitter and if Coach Smith would let him as tough a knuckleball as you will see.

Long limbed, limber and a good athlete, Benton can be as good as he wants to be.

Hardest (fastest) pitch thrown in the 4A Championship Game last year by the winning pitcher... 78 mph... a lot to be said for velo, but alot to be said for a kid that can pitch and dice guys up over 7 innings... :yinyang:

    Agree

There are a lot of those unsung pitchers out there. They do thier good and the hard throwing kid gets the glory.

    The "Brandons"

Brandon Browne and Brandon Huffman in Cumberland county brought it last year as Sophs. Both still competing against each other at different schools. Both top the stat charts for the county. Both also just tear the leather off the ball at the plate.

I couldn't agree more! I'll take a guy that knows how to pitch, can hit his spots, and can change speeds over a guy that "throws hard" any day.
