Free Throws killed us in this game. Anna had 2 chances to tie the score at the end, but could not connect. MHS was in control until mid way through the 4th quarter. MHS also was up by 11 points at one time.

Well, I hate it, but the ball just would not go in the basket. Personally, I think it may be a moot point because I'm not sure anybody can compete with South Meck. They may be just too big (tall).

Lady Titans, please hold your heads high. We love you no matter what. You had a fantastic season! BE PROUD! :applause:

    Shocking

To me this is a shocking loss because i have seen the Titans play a few times this year and I didnt think anyone could beat them. Harding must have played and outstanding game, because to knock off McDowell you must play well. Hats off to Harding and good luck to them in the next round. Dont hang your heads Lady Titans, you had a great season anyway. Once again good luck to Harding. Also good luck to the seniors in your future in college bball.

First off, I want to congratulate Harding on winning the game tonight. The Lady Rams played a very good game and came away the deserving winners. Good luck as you play in the regionals next week in Winston-Salem.

The first thing I would like to say is that being the very passionate basketball fan that I am, you know its really heartbreaking and emotion filled when someone like myself walks out of Titan Gym speechless and by the time I got to the car, I was in tears. That's how heartbreaking tonight's loss is.

I know that some of the McDowell players lurk around on this message board, so I wanna take this chance to say thank you to the seven seniors (Anna, Emily, Akendra, Aimee, Laeesha, Whitney and Savannah) who have taken their time and their talent and has made this community proud of all that you have done. :applause: :applause: :applause: It's been one hell of a ride.

And I especially wanna thank Emily and Anna, being that both girls played all four years on the Varisty level, you girls are one of the best backcourts that this part of North Carolina has ever seen. Both Anna and Emily are gonna finish with some impressive numbers. Emily has over 1000 points for her career (not bad considering starting 3 of 4 years). And Anna has got some stats that very few high school players in this state can match. Anna will finish just shy of 1500 career points, just shy of 900 career assists (career state record) and about 600 steals for a career. In the four year stretch, Anna and Emily has lead the Lady Titans to a 103-13 record. Just consider this, 1/6 of Mike Silver's all time wins were with Anna and Emily. And there is a likely chance that both Anna and Emily could play Division 1 College Basketball next year. Even without a state championship under your resume, I consider you girls winners. We will miss you seniors, but your girls will always have a place in my heart and in the heart of all Lady Titans fans. :applause: :applause: :applause:

And I got a gut feeling that not only have we seen the last of a great run, but we also has seen the last of the greatest coach that the State of North Carolina has ever seen, in Mike Silver. If it is indeed Mike's last game as head coach, I also wanna thank him for the memories. If he decides to stay, then he'll have a good, but very young group to work with next season. For sure, McDowell will not be projected to be a factor on the state level, but a NW4A Championship for next year is not unrealistic.

Again, good luck to both Harding Univ. and to South Meck at the regionals. :xyzthumbs

bigdan, I know how you feel, I haven't been able to sleep all night! The worst part is these girls are such a joy to watch play that I wish it could last forever. I do want to know where everybody ends up so I can follow their collegiate careers, and I want to know when and where any of them are playing in all-star games? I hope you ladies come back to support future Lady Titans like the others do now.

The first thing I wanted to do when the game ended was run down on the court and tell the girls that everything was OK. I know you had parents and friends to do that. We hurt with you, but just know that you have accomplished so much it is unbelievable. It was sheer pleasure to witness this great team! :laugh1: :applause: :xyzthumbs

    great season

While I would love for our McDowell ladies to go on and play for the championship I still couldn't be more proud of the way these ladies and coach Silvers have represented McDowell County. I told my son at the reynolds game in fairview I was afraid if the titans had another night like that one in the playoffs it would end our season and that's what happened. I don't know what the future holds for the lady Titan program but nothing can erase the great memories of these past few saasons. You have to give the Harding Rams credit, they never let up. They are a good, well coached team. But still if McDowell had been on their game they could have won by 15. So now it's time to put this season behind us and start looking foward to November when another Lady Titan team will take the floor and maybe start a new generation of pride in McDowell County. Thank you Mike,Anna,Emily and all the other seniors,It's been one great ride these past 4 years. :applause: :nono:
