Great Job to the Central Cabarrus Program.
    Central out-scored the opposition 322-9 in 2005 and 325-23 in 2004.
The 9 runs are the second lowest ever, while the no# of runs scored ranks 2nd and 3rd respectively. 72 doubles on the season breaks the 2004 doubles state mark the 2004 team set of 52. 25 Homeruns set a new State record. Presnell hit 10 HR's and scored 49. Allen's 26 shutouts is a State record. And allowing only one one run over the toughest competition in the State Title run (1 run on a passed ball over the last 110 innings of the year is amazing). 430 K's in a season against the toughest teams. Destiny Covington scored 52 runs and set a new state record of 54 hits. Stephanie Beatty set a new state record for Consecutive games with a hit with 21 and tied the old state record with 51 hits in a season. Amanda Barrs had 21 doubles (state record) and added 52 RBI's. Sophomore Chasity Covington has 5 out og the park HR's and 32 RBI's.
Competition,,,,,,, well, Central had to have played the toughest Non-Conference Schedule in the State with Indian Land, SC. Spring valley, SC. Mauldin, SC. Riverside, SC. Montour, PA, Robinson, NC, West Rowan and others.
    Look at the playoff bracket......
    Defeated the following teams
    Providence (15-5)
    AC Reynolds (17-6)
    Butler (26-1)
    West Forsyth (28-1)
    Fayetteville Southview (29-1)
    West Forsyth (30-2).
Central withstood everyone's best shot against the very teams and ran the table. A 32-0 season backed by 32-1 2004 season. 56 straight wins including 2004 wins over then No#2 Nationally ranked Hillcrest , SC.
Even more interesting, one senior starter on this years team.
Congrat's to the Central Staff and players.
This was written solely to promote the Central squad, not to put down any other team or program.

Well said, and by the way, where are all the jerks calling for Coach's head for running up scores? He DIDN'T run up scores, as evidenced by the state title game....19 innings, 1-0? If they were playing that kind of competition all year long, no one would whine at all. Other schools that face CC need to raise their level, because CC shouldn't have to slow down.

    Congrats again!

    CC

One of the greatest HS teams I have seen, power, speed, defense, pitching, and overall softball knowledge. We forget CC has always had a winning program in softball dating back to Crystal's early years. They just retool! Monte has added his discipline, his drive to win and his ability to get parents involved in building and improving the facilities. CC's field is outstanding, better than most college fields. Allison Presnell had a great year and is a fine young lady, Stephannie Beatty, one of the fiercest competitors I have ever seen at this level, Gina, just never gives up and works very hard, Amanda, Chasity, Destiny, Lauren, Bethany, and others U should be proud, hard work and determination will always pay off.
One last comment, to address a comment made! Not all schools are blessed with great talent, parent support, coaches that know and understand the game so it is not as easy as "all the programs should come up to the level" of Central. Many programs are close already and their day will come as graduation, transfers, and other items enter the mix. There is great talent all over NC especially in 2006-2008 as these girls have always played fastpitch. Before I get hammered, 2005 grads are very good and are the reason many schools were successful! The teams from this area that did well in the playoffs seem to be young this year, simply an observation. Just want to finish by saying girls softball is outstanding, I love it and it really does not matter who is playing, it is a joy and the fine young ladies that play it are the reason it brings that enjoyment. Let's have a great summer! The Blues and Cardinals will square off this weekend in Rock Hill, should be fun.

One of the things that I was very impressed with was the support of the Central fans. I and my family sat on the Central side of the diamond during the South View game. The fans encouraged the Central players all through the game. I don't want anyone to think that the South View fans did not, I am sure they did. I just had the opportunity to be seated near the Central fans. Notice what I said they did "encourage". I did not hear one negative comment during the 13 innings. Sure they were disappointed a couple of times during the game, but not one negative comment from my vantage point was heard. I would like to say "Hats off to the Central fans". It was great to see that kind of sportsmanship displayed.

All the kids mentioned above are great kids and outstanding ball players. I believe one more name needs to be recognized and that is Brittney Furr. Brittney stepped into the catching role this year at CC and did an outstanding job in a very tough position. Not many kids could have done the job she did catching a pitcher like Gina Allen who has great ball movement. All this is even more impressive considering catching is not Brittney's primary position ! Brittney had a very good year with the bat also. Congratulations Brittney and good luck this summer !

Brittney will be playing second base this summer for the Carolina Curve, who will also be playing this weekend in Rock Hill.
