Is the pitching staff for UNC struggling?

The player White. That dude is a flat out stud. We watched him pitch these last 2 games and wow. Closed the door shut loudly!!.

So what else does UNC have that can keep them in another game against Fresno State? I like The Orioles idea. IMO though the Heels may be short pitchers to take it all the way. I think they have the offense and defense. Just not the pitching.

They have three quality pitchers with experience that have not received any innings; Tyler Trice, Mike Franchinei and Rob Catapano....Moran scares me to death

Thanks Glove side you have an intuitive baseball mind such as myself...in actuality soeone who doesn t thrrow hard at all a BP pitcher 70ish guy again with nasty control and good stufff!!!!! It has worked for me numerous times wherre the offense couldn ttake it DOWN anotch or figure him out completely baffled the offense so to speak! At least to give them "some" innings I know it would be risky and controversial BUT it is all about the coaching staff believeing in ALL their players because it will and does take a COMPLETE team effort to win it all regadless and the team should be motivated by such a gutsy call and decision... I realize most others will argue go with the guys who have gottem them that far etc etc... but this is what coaching and the game is all about...PS by the way I don NOT think the lefty young kid he has been using can t remeber the name is THE answer in this particular situtation!

His name is Brian Moran. I think he will develop into a fine pitcher, but I don't think he is ready, yet.

Fox won't trust somebody he hasn't thrown much. He will go with Warren as long as he can. They certainly are in better shape pitching-wise than Fresno St. I just hope UNC comes out hitting and gets on top early. I'm not sure I can take any more of these dramatics.

I assume they will have Fleury DHing today. That is another potential good bat in the lineup.

    Moran has nasty stuff

I am with Braves. I sat behind home plate and watched Moran pitch against App State this year and when he is on - he is untouchable. He just needs to mature and learn how to keep his head straight under pressure and he will be an excellent pitcher.

Tonight, if they can stake Warren out out to a 4 run lead - watch that kid get UNC a win on sheer guts and determination...he seems to find a way to keep UNC in the game and win when you really need him - remember the Rice games in CWS last year....

    awwwwww...

come on bravo! of course conventionally speaking ur correct as I said in the last post! "Trust" is a huge issue or concept here.... Players are expecetd and must trust their coach but shouldn t it work the other way around as well... No player nor person has ever achieved ANYTHING without given the opportunity! Coach Fox would be making aa huge statement about his trust in ALLLLLLLLL his players to get the "job done" by assigneing one unecxpected...yet as you and I both know would be secondguessed until the end of time!!!!!!:glotzbart::glotzbart::glotzbart:

    Best available arm

and its Adam Warren. Then I would bring Bates in. Hopefully your in a situation where your bats have given you a lead and if you have to bring in another guy maybe its Fed to close. But in any case whoever you have to throw to get the win thats who you throw. There is no game Monday if you lose Sunday. Once you get to Monday its the best available arm again. You stay in it long enough for your bats to wake up and carry you to a win somewhere along the way. Your pitching will reset if you can hang around another day. If you lose Monday you still play again on Tuesday. And thats another day to get some arms back. You can save Warren but if you lose you will be kicking yourself for not bringing the best guy available to keep you alive.

    Coach...

all the pitchers on the staff are have should DI ability, correct? well if this is the case isn t it time to bring a rested and "live" arm into play? U sually in tourneys it is who is deepest regardlesss where in the game "someone" often an unknown will be the truner if you will to be the deciding factor not always the proverbiual stud....just food for thought we ll see just trying to sitr some debate and second guessing...i guess!:whoosh2:

Warren may be the BAA, but Fresno hammered him for 4 runs and 9 hits in just 4 innings, so in my book it's not a clear-cut decision.
I like the Oriole's idea of throwing a wild card into the mix.
I think UNC has 4-5 pitchers that haven't been used yet.

I would agree coach..to a certain extent. Adam Warren is an above average quality pitcher that should be rested. In fact, Warren has the makeup to go along with his talent. I really like Trice and Franchinei, too. Both are experienced seniors, as well. The problem you run into with any of the less used guys is they are all rusty. I wouldn't take the chance with this game. But I'm a gambler. I would look to start one of them on Monday to give my other pitchers some rest. Those guys I mentioned are not chopped liver. In fact, Trice was drafted. It wouldn't surprise me if either the gusy i mentioned would "step up".

But before I would think too much about it, I've got to win today's game and Adam Warren gives me the best chance to win.

I'm also in the camp that Fresno State may be in a funk. They know their pitching is out of gas. That's why it is so important to get on top from the beginning. Fresno has been a team of emotions...I sure would like to keep them in that funk mood all game.

It would not surprise me to see UNC win 10-3
