    had a team

Charlotte had a team several years ago and several locals played for the team. Did not have enough fans to stay in business but was very exciting to watch. I took my whole 14U team to a couple games.:hair2:

    huh....

First of all... hope it happens....
but you need to check your facts as regarding the $$$...

    Current MLB contract....
Single A pro baseball player makes $1100.00 a month first contract season.
$20.00 a day meal money.... all levels single A thru AAA.
That is a cold hard number... for you math majors... That's between $4400.00 - $5500.00 a season.... Salaries are up for negotiation after that. 95% only get raises of $200.00 - 300.00 dollars a month. The other 5% are not there long. They are also the ones that got the big bonuses..

You can work a summer job while in college and make more.
That's why the good ones get the "bonuses".

That's the hitch.....Salaries can't keep the rosters consistent. Huge turnover. Baseball takes 80% of their draft from high school players.
Softball does not have the talent pool to do that.... That's why the league continues to struggle.

The WPSL, which the Durham Dragons was a member (1997-1999) were successful only because AT&T committed $1,000,000.00 a year for 3 years. When that stopped, the league folded

Best of luck to Atlanta.....it will take deep pockets for this to be successful....

Sorry to hear Marlin is not funding a team.
Was looking forward to thirsty Thursdays...

    Cat's team

More information on the team coming to Atlanta:

"The response has been tremendous and I guess that by now everyone has seen that the Rockford Thunder is the team that is for sale and the agreement has been signed to attempt to bring them to Atlanta. The venue will be Kennesaw State University which is also where the new Women's Pro Soccer team will also be located. View Cat Osterman's commitment to the team by going to: http://www.eteamz.com/dynastyfastpitch2/ and sign the guestbook. "

    Could be a reality.
