Good to see you posting again Braves and thanks for your input along with everyone else that has posted. Been reading your stuff for years and enjoy your perspective on things. While i just started posting i have been reading post on TBR since my days at south stokes working under Coach Nail in the glory days of Ackley Conaway and Smith just to name a few . I owe a lot to Coach Nail. I am really trying to make it work so that we all can share our athletes with other programs during the summer and fall.I thought CatCoach got attacked personally and thats not what this discussion should become. Catcoach has earned the right to voice his opinion and so has the other posters that may not see eye to eye with catcoach or any other high school coach for that matter but dont make it personal. I hope we can continue to improve our back and forth and learn to work together so our players that want too can reap the benefits from both parties and improve and continue after high school playing at the next level and that is what we all should strive for. Now if i had about three more arms this summer i could sleep better for sure..ONE last comment to the poster that said we dont like sharing our athletes. At The Walkertown High School many of my players play multiple sports as we are a new school and we really need to share our players with the other programs to try to make every program better. i have 5 guys playing this summer and doing football . Now thats dedication for sure and i thank those guys every time they show up.

I love this kind of interaction because we can all learn from each other.

I had a respected HS coach tell me, " Braves I had this player for 4 years. I helped him develop in many areas to get better during that time. But what may have been more important is when he needed help outside of baseball. He had a tough situation at home and needed counseling to overcome the situation...and I was always there to pick him up. I do that for all my kids!

He worked hard and developed into an outstanding talent. I received ph calls from scouts often and always gave a positive and truthful evaluation. I was excited when he committed to a particular school. On the day of his signing I wasn't contacted or invited...he signed at his summer showcase facility.

Braves, I certainly don't do this for the money, but when one of my players is about to have one of the greatest days of his life....I believe I deserved the opportunity to be there."

I know I'm getting off topic (if there was a specific topic:evil3:), but I have heard this sentiment expressed before. The HS coach can be ignored when the player takes the time "to thank the one's that helped me get to where I am....." Geez if a coach is not doing it for the money, then obviously he is doing it for the love of the game....and his kids.

Wolfpack - It is hard to say every coach or program is a certain way. So I am generalizing but do not mean to offend any one coach or program.

I have noticed throughout the years that fewer and fewer players are playing multiple sports and at a lot of HS the "voluntary" workouts that are in the fall and winter are really not voluntary. I remember seeing a TShirt at one school with the slogan that read workouts are voluntary but so is playing time. Well is it voluntary or can players miss for other sports or teams or not ?

I am sure coaches are coaching showcase for the $ since NC pays high school coaches so little for taking on the responsibility.

Hopefully the two can get worked out so at the HS teams/Showcase/Legion can work together for the betterment of the student athlete. Striking a balance between the good of the HS team, Individuals college aspirations and player development.

BTW - we all miss Braves...I may not post a lot but I have read for years...
