What a neat young man. Thankfully, he got his looks and smarts from his mom. It is a lot of fun reading these articles and getting to know the young men better. I wish Bentley much success in his future at Barton. It will be fun to follow his career

I know we kid him alot on this site but you will not meet a better guy than Bentley. He is a great guy to hang out with and especially watch a baseball game with.

A few years back one of our parents put together a summer team with 7th and 8th graders on it. They were called the Vikings. Imagine that. We got in touch with some other teams and one of them was a team from Wilson that Bentley coached and his son played on. They came up to South Granville for a dh and it was a blast. That was the first time I got the opportunity to meet him and we have been friends ever since. His son is a class act in every way. And he is a terrific baseball player. I know he will be very successful at Barton.

It seems like yesterday the field umpire made a great call on a close play that day in game two to end the game with us winning by one. Remember that call Grayben? You know you do. Remember who the field umpire was Grayben? It was my oldest son Jake. And yes your guy was safe by two feet. But he was called out and our team won. I still kid my son about that horrible call he still says it was a good call. It seems like yesterday all these boys were just little kids playing the game. Man how the last few years has flown by. Too bad I couldnt get Jake to call the game at Fike!

    Thanks guys!

Yes, Coach May, I do remember that call. But, I did not know until today that your oldest was the umpire. Seemed like a big deal then (2004), but believe me, I've seen worse calls this year (I agree, that 3-2 pitch in the last inning looked awful good where I was standing). Thanks to you, Q, and Braves for the favorable comments about my son. I really am glad that nobody holds it against him who his daddy is! He's really excited about playing at the next level (Barton) and he plans to room with another good player that we don't hear much about, INF/P Ryan Daughtry from Princeton High School. Bentley and Ryan went to daycare together when they were 4 or 5 years old. Small world and where does the time go?

Again, thanks and as always, hope to see you guys soon!
