    Cougars win a classic

Alexander Central nipped Hickory 24-21 in one of the best football games I have ever seen. Cougars score the winning touchdown with 5 seconds. Maurice Carter caught a 3 yard Td pass in the end zone to end Alexander Central's 8 game losing streak to Hickory. Hickory had taken the lead with 1:11 to go capping an 90 yard drive. Justin Bowles made two huge plays on the winning drive, including a big run after the catch on 4th down to keep the drive alive. If you are a football fan, this one will not be forgotten anytime soon. Cougars go to 6-2 on the season with a huge game in Tville against Freedom next Friday. For Hickory, they lose their 2nd straight, and are also 6-2. If you missed it, you missed a great one!!! :bananalam

Both teams played a great football game. Glad to see the Cougars look better after a dismal game against a not so good East Burke team. I sat on the Hickory side, no room on the AC side. I had a real hard time listening to the fans for Hickory bad mouthing the Hickory Coachs. Hickory has a great football team and maybe the best QB I've saw all year!!! Just my 2 cents, on a great ball game!!!

that goes on everywhere dont it? i wish people would someitmes realize the complete dedication these men must put forth when coaching at the high school level........and with little compensatory pay/time off for their extra work load. they too have families and mortgages to pay but they choose to do what they do out of a love for the game and for the kids. my hat is off to all of them.
