Beautiful weekend at High Point University

Thanks to Coach May for hooking my son Jerrod Moore up with the Strechlon Stars from the RockyMount/Nashville area this past weekend in HighPoint.
Jerrod Moore pitched a complete game against the On Deck O's on Saturday. After giving up two runs in the first inning Jerrod pitched six shut out innings with the Stars playing great defense behind him. Jerrod was very effective on the mound tossing only 78 pitches. He also had three hits in the game. The Stars won 3-2 over the tough O's.
On Sunday the Stars gave the Carolina Cubs Senior team all they wanted and almost pulled out a win in the seventh. The Stars had the bases loaded but couldn't get the runs in and lost a great game 4 to 3.
For those of you not familiar with the Strechlon Stars they are Coached by Mike Thomas, Terry Woodley, Mike Pearce, Eric Furl and Managed by Richard Sariento. Here is the roster that played at HighPoint:
Zach Furl, Sophmore, Lee County, P/3rd
Edmund Gravely, Sophmore, Rocky Mount Academy, 1st base
Adam Hodges, Junior, Rocky Mount Academy, P/MIF
Daniel Moore, Junior, Northern Nash HS, OF/C
Jerrod Moore, Senior, Person High School, P/MIF/OF
Jon Moore, Sophmore at NC state, OF/P
Alex Pearce, Sophmore, Nash Central HS, C/2nd
Michael Robbins, Senior, South Granville HS, P/OF
Marc Sarmiento, Senior, Northern Nash HS, MIF
Will Spence, Senior, CB Aycock HS, MIF
Andrew Webb, Junior, Northern Nash, MIF
Zach Woodley, Junior, Northern Nash, P/OF

Great group of young men that work and play hard. They played back to back games both days and never laid down. They were always scrapping!! Thanks again to the Strechlon Stars and Thanks again to Coach May for always looking out for our kids!!!
The Strechlon Stars were invited to play this coming weekend at ECU/Pitt for there showcase due to there perfomance this past weekend. Good Luck men and play hard!! :bananalam

Bruce you are welcome. Im glad that I could help your son get a chance to show his stuff. But the fact is if he couldnt play he wouldnt have been there. And he is a fine young man. I was not able to see the games on Saturday because I was at my oldest sons football game. But it did not surprise me to hear when I got there Sunday that he had thrown great. I hope I get to see all you guys at ECU this weekend. I will say this I was impressed with the Stretchlon Stars squad. They have some really good players. They were one hit away from beating the 18u Cubs and the game with the JR Cubs was a good one as well.

I have to agree with you 12to6. They did, however, come alive in their last game of the weekend beating the jr. Cubs 12-2.

    On Deck O's

Ive seen these guys a few times this summer and this fall. They are very talented and well coached. It happens in baseball especially in this showcase format with pitchers only going 2 or 3 and rotating players constantly. Some week ends teams look good only to come back the next week end and look like a total different group. Theres no doubt that they were ready to play their last game Sunday at High Point against the 16u Cubs after they had took an L to them on Saturday and lost to Stretchlon as well. It was obvious that they were much more focused and they all made a great effort to go the other way at the plate and not try to pull everything. They sure put a spanking on us 12-2.
