Based on your experience, what makes the difference between a good or bad booster club? Also, what are some the problems booster clubs have encountered and what have been some of the successes?

In my opinion, South Meck has one of the best Booster Clubs in high school. They are always led by one person who is dedicated, committed, relentless and has great communication skills. Emily Andress is the perfect example @ SM who you want to lead the booster club. She is fun, entertaining, insistent, persistent and does this in a fun way....and the best thing; she gets results.

SM never has a problem in scheduling parents for concession duty. All the parents dedicate themselves in "workday" (cleaning of the ballfield). They contribute their time or money or both. Not because they hope johnny may get more playing time, but because they are committed to helping the program anyway they can. They genuinely care for all the kids.

But you must have a leader to follow up and follow thru with all their projects and that's what Gemetta Stanford did and that's what Emily Andress does. The monies that these ladies solicited, induced, procured, or threatened of bodily harm is incredible....without them there is no Bagdome

Well said Braves....the tough part is finding the Gemetta's and Emily's of the world....they are definately "special ladies". Then you need the parent base that truly care about the program and not if their kids are on the court or playing field.:twocents:
