High School Coaches and AD's., answer your emails!!!

OK, granted, then your response should be: Here are my contact numbers, please contact me at your your convenience or at such and such time so we can discuss the matter. The point is, you should get some form of response.

As an announcer, I can tell you that I frequently email coaches of opposing schools and ask for their roster and during football, because there are so many starters, I ask for a list of probable starters. I have NEVER had a problem getting the information.

I try to do the following when asking for the information.
1. Ask in advance...remembering that the coaches are teachers too and have other things to do.
2. Explain who I am and what my affiliation with the school is...and not some average Joe off the street.
3. Explain why I am asking...I do not work at the school I announce for and I like to have the info as early as possible so I can ARRIVE at the game as prepared as possible.
4. Thank them in advance!!! After-all they're doing ME the favor! Yes it does benefit them too...but they are cutting down on my leg-work tremendously!

Websites are cool...and we are fortunate to have the best in the state if not the country (and yes I am biased!!!)...but even our webmaster will tell you that mistakes and errors will happen. That's why I like to get the info from the coaches first hand.

I know that my situation is a little different that what was being discussed in the first part of this thread...but there were a lot of simularities too!

 

Maybe just maybe the e-mail just don't get past spam filters and if the coach or AD don't recognise your email they delete it as spam. Remember they are pretty busy what with teaching and all plus coaching and or overseeing the entire athletic program. Try calling the school and leave a voicemail if you cannot get them on the line. It may just work better.
