I have heard 100 different interpretations on what the rules are concerning preseason practice and workouts by the High Schools in N.C.. They range from the eight man rule on workouts to full workouts as long as no coaches are on location? Does anyone know the actual rulebook or written guideline regarding this often confusing subject? This old coach would be forever grateful.

    Off season workouts

There is a thread titled "Off Season Workouts" on page two that should be helpful.

You're right ... I didn't even think about going to look for the old thread, but we had recently discussed this.

Pre-Season NC High School Workout Rules

NCBBall Fan..........Thanks for the thread on the rules concerning the preseason workouts. Are these rules contained within a handbook or rule book. Where are they kept?

There is a Handbook and a Rule Book.

An abbreviated rule set can be viewed (this is what I use) on their website.

    http://www.nchsaa.unc.edu/eligibility.html

This will give the option of viewing two documents. Skills Development which covers all HS sports and off-season contact with coaches. Eligibility which covers different details like grades, moving, changing schools, etc.

In other online documents (specifically baseball), http://www.nchsaa.unc.edu/baseball/index.html
There is a selection for Baseball Information. In that section is specifically states that the Rules book will be sent to the Head Coach (supposedly from the NCHSAA). Other than that, must of the other information is supposed to be in the "Handbook".

The Handbook may be purchased from the NCHSAA at a cost of $9.00. It covers all sports. If you need a copy, here is the access point for ordering.
