Something that occured last night that I thought was not so much strange but strange. How much pre game scouting takes place? Now, understand we are talking notebook and two coaches. Stayed the whole game. These are not two teams that are strangers to one another, not number one seeds during playoffs, not pre-championship game and not even two unbeaten teams. One has a two game conferance advantage and has beaten the other two. Just seemed strange. I would offer an example but I am sure someone will get it wrong. Just thought it strange as they should have already seen these teams on the field of play. Just wanted to get the groups thought.

If a coach has the time and wants to see a future opponent play, then go for it!! SCouting an opponent can give you an edge if you use the information.... definitely nothing wrong with it, as teams change during a season.

    Its that time of year

The playoff brackets are out and coaches will be out scouting potential opponents. Im making a road trip tomorrow to see Northern Nash and Rocky Mount. We will make several more in the next couple of weeks. Last year I saw Union Pines , South Johnston , Northern Nash , Rocky Mount , Harnett Central and a few more. I imagine I will see alot of the same teams again this year. Its very common to see many other coaches at these games doing the very same thing. With the expanded playoff format the possible playoff opponents has obviously grown. You have to get out there and see several teams in order to make sure you see the team you eventually will play.

South Caldwell scout was at Jack Sink tourny last week watching the 4 SW4A teams playing. Happens all the time in the SW4A so not a big deal.

I know I'm helping EF out with them possibly having a #1 seed and playing someone from Fayetteville and since I go to school in Fayetteville it helps the coaches a lot.

Scouting is a fulltime job in the majors

This is especially true when you pick up on the strength and weakness of the batters. A successful coach knows his competition.

Plate Dad...the coaches you are referring to have been to 4 of our games already. They stayed and took notes during all 4 games. What they are doing is effective. Even in years when their talent is down, they observe enough to capitalize and stay up to date on other teams strengths and weaknesses. Even thought I hate it :shifty:...they win many close games because of the diligence of their coaching staff.

It was it hit me as strange. Think I will video their game. They would run me out of their place like no ones business. I just wanted to see how common place it was. As I can tell a few do it. But, it seems to be a the tougher schools. So I just I can look at it as a compliment that they would put in so much time.
