any recommendations on video's or other instructional items that you have found to be good?

contact is good, strikeouts are few, but distance & "pop" needs improvement.

I know there are personal instructors out there, but prefer to go this route first with one on one, daddy & daughter for a fall practice thing.

    thanks.

They carry a large number of tapes and maybe now DVD on all aspects of the game. The tapes are done by the whos-who of our game.

EOR- Any hitting video by Mike Candrea is excellent. But I do know of another source of excellent videos produced by a company in CA called JustSoftball. The owner, Deb Hartwig, is a former college coach and was a tremendous hitter and catcher when she played in college. She operates several softball training facilities in CA and her business is doing very well.

I saw Deb speak at a National Sports Clinic coaching seminar in Dallas, TX about 2 years ago and I thought she had the best teaching methods I had ever seen. One of the things I like about her videos is the fact she uses actual softball players in her instruction. She has girls from 8-18 demonstrating the drills and techniques she teaches. She allows the girls to make mistakes and then provides the correction to get the drill or technique correct. She also uses acronyms in her teaching which I feel helps the girls relate better to what they are learning.

Here is a link to her website. http://www.just-softball.com/ I have a had a few discussions with Deb regarding expanding her business to NC, but nothing has happened yet. Hopefully one day it will.

Let me know if you get any videos and if they are helpful. I use a lot of Deb's and Coach Candrea's methods in the lessons I give, and I have seen a lot of improvement from using these methods.

Good luck in working with your DD!

The absolute best thing going in the area of hitting instruction today is the Rightview Pro hitting instruction system. This system was put together by Mike Candrea (U. of Arizona), Sue Enquist (UCLA), and others.

The system enables the user to video a batter's swing and digitally capture it on computer where it can be broken down and compared to Major League baseball and Olympic softball players on a split screen format.

The system along with the accompanying instructional CD makes it very easy to get the point across to players of any age.

    Check it out at www.rightviewpro.com . :229031_ha
